Where were all the wannabes when Ed wasn't around for the whole 2007 season? The place was dead. They tried to get fill ins and it was a complete disaster.

I like Ed, he gets the crowd going. Anytime anyone gets the crowd going, they are alright in my book.

Air raid sirens, Jets chants, etc. It's all noise and it's all good.

Ed is the man, does he still sit on his little brothers shoulders? I haven't been to a game in awhile.

Hey I have nothing against fire fighters. My old man was the Chief in Medford way back in the day and my brother was in middle island and now is fire police.

I just think it's hokey with him up on someone's shoulders and acting like an attention whore. Just my preference.

Fireman Ed gets a lot of exposure probably due to camera crews being lazy and not scoping out other enthusiastic fans going nuts in the stands. I can't hold it against the mannever met him and can't say anything about his character

The only thing that is confusing to me is the timing of the chants. Always thought it would be good to do it when the Jets d is taking the filed to indicate time to make lots and lots of noise not when the O is in the huddle or a kick of is taking place

Something doesn't make sense with that at all. Wait so with no one on base, you score 55.5% of the time. With someone on first with no outs, you score 95.3% of the time???? And then with a man on 2nd with no outs, you score 57.3% of the time? Wtf just happened? So should a guy on first just hang out there until someone hits him to 3rd and not move if they don't??? I'm so confused by something here.

I used to only root for the raiders when I was a little kid because I loved their sliver and black uniforms to death. I didn't become a Jet fan until the Marino fake-spike game (I happened to be rooting for them that day because I had just discovered that green was my favorite color and when they lost that game, I felt really badly for them and started watching every game thereafter) I actually still have a little love for the raiders because of their uniforms . . .

You know as well as I do what the record was that year. Did you know we beat the Steelers that year? And half the crowd was waving yellow towels? It was terrible being outnumbered at our own field.

We did have something to yell about. Nobody picked up the ball and ran that year as a fan. All I am saying. Ed gets the fans riled up. That is a good thing. As you see this season so far, having your fans behind you may make a difference and could possibly affect the outcome of the game. Plus it pisses off the opponent. Ask Billadouche.

That meant to say runner on second, one out. As in, the optimal success of a bunt. Blah.

yeah thats the thing, i COMPLETELY agree with you on the timing and especially the fact that people really do sit on their hands too much and wait for ed to go up on the screen.

i was at the patsies game this year and it was the first time that people were just cheering and doing it regularly when we were on defense. granted it took a little goading by a few of us toward the front of the section but people did get up and at least clap. the entire last drive that game the fans were into it. it wasnt the greatest crowd ever but it was one of the best jobs i have seen done at a jets game.

usually everyone just waits to see if ed is going to get up and do his cheer.

Leading the crowd? The only people he might be leading are the morons that didn't know they were supposed to make noise on 3rd down (or every down, for that matter) when we're on defense. And that's only if they put him on the big screen.
I don't have any problem with the guy but the crowd would be fine without him.
Now that's a face we can all get behind.
^This, ladies and gentleman is the goddamn truth.
Do you ever find it weird to have a grown man's balls on the back of your neck for an extended amount of time?
Absolutely. It's not Ed that gave the Jets a homefield advantage. It was every single one of us who bothered to get up and rile up our sections.

I'm all good with ol' firehat leading the chant and whatnot. What makes me mad is how some fans depend on him. Jetfans in general that come to the games can be pretty crappy fans, and that stadium was dead for nearly three quarters. I felt like the only person screaming when we were on defense. No one got loud till they put ed on the screen. Come on people, learn how to contribute the whole game

What I want to know is, is his PSL free? And, are his tickets in the New Stadium also free? I've been wondering about that for the longest time. Was he asked that specifically on the show? If that's the case, I will be so goddamn pissed off.

Honestly..... who gives a shit? We are 3-0 with a dominating win over our hated rival and a team that went 13-3 last year.

I got no issue with Ed... if you think he's a dueche that's fine I don't know him so I can't say he's a deuche. What I do know is that I remember him at Jet games since I was a kid and that started in 1984 for me and the guy is in a spot most of us wish we were in. Say he thinks a celebrity well the media has made him one... that's not his fault.

    when he was a kid.

some people grow up with one team until they reach an age where they can choose on their own. Then they switch to a team that they identify with more.

when i didn't know about football (yes there was a time LOL!), i was a Giants fan because 95% of my family are Giants fans. when i turned 10, I switched because I learned enough about NY sports and chose the teams i liked instead of whoever everyone else rooted for.

imagine if I stayed a Giant fan? I, for some reason, am happy I didn't.
