If Tebow can catch Id love to have a duel TE threat with him and Keller. Tebow could probably block better too.

Ummm, Rex said he didn't know exactly how many snaps he would take. He said sometimes it may just be a few per game, but others it could be more like 20, depending on the success of it. He didn't say guaranteed 20 snaps a game. I hate when people take 1 tiny quote out of an entire press conference and try to make it seem like its set in stone.

We also may see Sanchez & Tebow in at the same time, which would really confuse the D. He can be a RB, QB or TE.

This is a key point, too. Just because he says he wants to be a full time QB doesn't mean he has the skills to be or will be. I'd like to be a full time QB also, but my throwing motion isn't so great either.

Of course he can have 20 plays a game and not one at QB..ever think of that?

I thought the person who's given the most common sense answer on this subject is Tim Tebow himself. How much it's used us not decided in advance or in a vacuum. It depends on what it is and the extent to which it works.

You've never won a national championship in College and haven ever led an NFL team to a division title and playoff victory. He's not crazy to want to be a starting NFL QB.

Actually he is pretty crazy... but no, it's not bad to want to start, it's just not realistic at this point, as we already have our starter and he's pretty much guaranteed for 2 years.

Not crazy but if he can't do the job he doesn't become a starting QB, that's my point. Won a division at 8-8 by the way, same record we had and everyone wanted to jump off a ledge.

Also, you have no idea what I may or may not have accomplished on the scout team at Marist back in the 80s. I burned our starting D more than once as a WR. :metal:

how does sanchez get in a groove and feel for the game if he's constantly being taken out of the game. teams with good qb's don't take them out of the game, hense why the jets are screwed. no faith in sanchez from the front office or a majority of fans.

sanchez has been a bottom third scrub of the league up till this point, if he doesn't come out smoking hot the jets will be drafting for a new qb in 2113.

Rex should have that Lap band around his throat.

they'll treat him like any other tightend in the league. he's not special as a fullback, halfback or tightend. when he's under center playing qb is where his talents of option running is, but the league was starting to catch onto him as the year went on, same as the wildcat, it's no longer as effective as when it first came out.

tebow may end up being nothing but a gimmick player for 2 to 3 plays and thats it.

8-8 was a step back for the Jets. It was a huge step forward for the Broncos.

if you continued to read the thread you would see I addressed how Sanchez doesn't have to come out of the game.

So that changes the perception but not the facts. Denver was 8-8, Jets 8-8, Giants 9-7, yet everyone talks up Denver and the Giants like they had these great teams and the Jets suck. Then you factor in that we missed tackles against both those teams to lose to them when we dominated both from scrimmage most of the game.

Point being we're not the laughingstock clown show everyone makes us out to be, we were a few missteps from being where we were the year before. We've added Tebow as a piece for Rex to use at his discretion, not a savior or a new franchise QB, that's not what this is, all the hype aside.

Rex's point in saying up to 20 snaps is that the 'other team's defense' will have no idea how much Tebow will or won't play and will have to dedicate a lot of time preparing for the 'what if'....ie, 20 snaps (that may be 2!)

Most teams have one dynamic offensive player be it a RB or WR. Stopping that one player usually means beating that team.

With the Jets, we'll have a Tebow package that the offense gets good at with minor prep/tweak time week in and week out PLUS our Sanchez offense. Teams we play will only see our Tebow package once or twice, which means their defense ain't geared up to stop it without a LOT of extra prep time both on and off the field.

what our offense learns once and uses week in and week out, other teams will have to learn from a cold start how to stop every week.

Yea we were not far from being a playoff team. If we don't make the playoffs this year as a wildcard I would be SHOCKED. We play the NFC west, the Dolphins are a mess, Jax, SD, Tenn, and Indy are all very winniable games.

Last season might have been a good wake up call for Rex and the Jets. I'm not saying we are superbowl bound but I think we are a playoff team for sure.

You're moving the target and ignoring context. In the context of being in the AFC Championship game the previous 2 years and 11-5 in 2010, 8-8 and missing the playoffs was a huge step back by any objective standard.

I don't give a rip about the Giants, nor have I ever said the Jets suck, so that's a straw man as far as I'm concerned.

In the context of winning 4 and 17 under Orton from 2010 thru 2011 and ending up 8-8, making the playoffs and beating Pittsburgh was a huge step forward by any objective standards.

The rest of your post I agree with. Tebow wasn't brought on to be the savior of this team, but to add a few things to help the Jets. I think he'll do that and eventually get a chance at a starting job as well. Whether or not that's with the Jets remains to be seen.

How many times are people gonna take the 20 times a game out of context?
