Kubiak is staying with Baltimore as their OC... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...biak-will-remain-ravens-offensive-coordinator
Does anyone know if Reich has gotten any interviews with other teams? He may be Plan B if we don't get Quinn...
The only thing that I am scared about is that the Jets need to replace the linebackers and the secondary from this past years team in addition to changes that are made on offense. I dont know if Rex Ryan was doing it with smoke and mirrors but the linebackers and the secondary were both below average. I'm not trying to turn this into a Rex argument because we needed a new GM and personnel department and nobody was going to inherit Rex in addition to the fact that Rex sucks at in game adjustments, clock management, and can't hire an innovative offensive mind. Dan Quinn will hopefully come here and with talent being infused in the draft and in free agency can compete right away. I am a fan of his first hypothetical hire of Shanny. If he brings in a good defensive coordinator I would be even happier (possibly Kris Richard).
I wish I could edit this, add McDermott and remove Kubiak.....I think I've reached my unofficial HC poll limit so I won't start a 4th one lol. (people are probably sick and tired of voting over and over for the same thing!)
Fwiw I am starting to rethink this idea that the Jets' preference should be to get an offense guy as HC. In fact the D is going to need a lot of attention, too. We could see a totally revised secondary aside from a returning Pryor, a base 4-3 being integrated, and Harris gone in FA. Pace is probably not coming back, and what to do about Coples? Even if they bring Harrison back, which imo they must, you could have as many as six new starters on D (keep Wilkerson, Harrison, Richardson, Davis and Pryor as the only definites). Sounds like a lot of work for the CS. Meanwhile the Qb search will take up much FO attention, and there will be a new OC. OL needs work. So I concede the O will need a lot of attention, too. It's just not a case where ALL the attention will be on O. In fact it might be pretty even.
Maybe Denver didn't want to lose Gase. I can see Fox going to maybe SF. Or the Bears. Or maybe Atlanta. I wish the Jets.
Rex still cannot: manage time outs get past his love of the wildcat break from having favorites and playing the best player instill discipline in his players challenge calls correctly Buffalo will be his Waterloo, and it is going to be great watching this train wreck happen. My only hope is that Mark joins him there.
He's been coaching for a long time, and he's had Peyton Manning in recent years, and how many super bowls has he won? ..... crickets .....
Good call. Not all but most teams win with a strong defensive minded HC and a QB who can throw more TDs than INTs.
He's a lifeless version of the Herm Edwards "play not to lose" type of coach who is overrated because there are so few candidates with head coaching experience and because he made it to a Super Bowl like 10 years ago in Carolina. No thanks.
Ludicrous assertion ... he threw the ball all over the field (and scored points, and won, and went to a Super Bowl) with JAKE DELHOMME. He went to the playoffs (and won a game) with Tim Tebow. The guy's a great coach; it's not his fault Manning got hurt.
Apparently john elway thinks differently. Fox is riding the coat-tails of that Super Bowl appearance like 10 years ago and gets more looks because most owners want a guy with HC experience and there are so few respectable ones out there. I don't think he's bad, but he is overrated in my opinion. In critical situations he will always take the conservative route. His weak decisions in the embarrassing playoff loss to Baltimore arguably cost them the game. I don't know what your definition of great is. Rex was basically one schotty play call away from making it to the Super Bowl with SANCHO as his QB.
Re-watch last year's Super Bowl and the playoff loss in mile high to Baltimore and then tell me that's the guy who's a no-brainer #1 choice. I guess if you want to argue that every other candidate sucks, ok. If Fox is a "great" coach what does that make Pete Carroll and Belichick?
No thanks. I'll just tell you he's the no-brainer #1 choice without re-watching the games. I do. Belichick? A Hall of Famer. Carroll? Great. Bingo.
