Douglas had neither the authority nor the inclination to bench legitimate starters to force a loss. Nor did Jacksonville and for sure no respectable GM would do such shit to the players on the current roster. Plus we are getting the number one pick anyway. Wilson. Way to go with the win Jets.
Yeah, you can't do it the way Doug Pederson did. I think people would have been less upset if he started Sudfeld. Throwing him in with the game on the line was ridiculous though.
In the video he spoke about how quickly Wilson, Jones and Mond get the ball out. They quickly go from one option to another through the progressions and then the ball is out. I think that's what he means. They don't stare down receivers, don't generally try to hold the ball a long time. They make quick reads, decisions, and throw. He particularly mentioned this with regards to Jones, how he would decide where he was going to throw the ball, and the receiver may not be really open, and there's only a small window but he puts it in that window. I could be wrong, but it is my impression that some of these decisions must be made, at least partially, before the snap. It is my understanding that on any given pass play there is a primary target, secondary target, etc., and their order can change depending upon what defense the D lines up in. These three QBs can quickly tell who is likely to be open and who won't be by the coverage. So excellent vision of the field, football IQ, instincts, and quick recognition and recall must factor in. When speaking about Fields, he said that Fields throws it to the wrong receiver with some regularity, and how he was yelling at the screen, "Not there!" So Simms, must be able to quickly look at the D alignment and recognize where the ball should go, and can tell when other QBs can or cannot do this.
Glennon (rating 80) /Minshew (rating 96) open QB competition following Jets win with two games left in the season? Unusual move wouldn't you say?
Yes, unusual shit move. But by whom a shit coach? It was not the GM that did that was he? Either way is the move of a looser organization, wouldn’t you say?
Dan Patrick is SOOO much better than Mike Florio. I wish Chris Simms would dump Florior and hook up with DP some how. I watch PFT every day just for Simms.
For sure. Plus truth is the Jets were far from the worse team. We shoulda won 4 or 5 games easily. We're def in the bottom half, but far from the worst. We were very lucky to get the #2.
Meh, DP is too much of a narcissist for me, I think 4 lackeys is enough for that guy. Some should definitely go with someone other than Florio though, that guy has been an incessant weasel since his days of NFLTalk.com when 98% of the rumors posted were completely fabricated.
I guess it is all "academic" really. I mean...seriously...does ANYONE in all of Jet Land have any confidence that we will get a QB and do anything with him? I am SUPREMELY confident we could have destroyed Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Bart Starr....insert name here..... The NY Jets is where QB's go to die. Over a 5/6 decade lifespan this team has had exactly TWO QB's that excelled vs. being destroyed. Vinny Testaverde and Chad (nothing you can do about injuries) Pennington. Joe Namath, being discussed as a serviceable QB, is a joke. He's in the HoF on a "one liner" delivered before a SB. He doesn't even make the list for consideration for the HoF over the last 40 years. So really....does it matter? It's kind of a debate of insanity. We are trying to argue the multiple different paths to the same insanity.
I have no idea, but Jaguars did in fact rather blatantly tank and sat legitimate starter, at the most important position no less, contrary to what you said about them above: "...bench legitimate starters to force a loss. Nor did Jacksonville...".
Yeah, I understood what he said as far as what he observed, but what I really want to know is what was he observing - what did he look at specifically - how did he come to that conclusion? More to the point - what I bolded - is what I'd like Simms to expound upon. Most of us can watch film and see the QB turning his head - although not always, and also we can't see his eyes - but just because a QB is turning his head doesn't mean he's seeing what he should see, or making the right decisions based on what he's seeing. And I for one don't know how to read a defense and can't tell where a QB should throw the ball - sure, to an open receiver, but often there are no really open receivers, or sometimes the better pass is to someone who's more tightly defended, but who - if they broke free enough to grab the ball - could make a bigger gain. So I'm really interested in Simms (or someone of his caliber) explaining more of this aspect.
I hear you. You're right, often we can't tell where the QB is looking or what he sees. I think Simms can because he played QB. I don't know how to read a D, either, and I doubt that very many posters here can. I'd love it too if Simms or JT O'Sullivan or someone of their caliber would do a video on the art of analyzing QB play, what are the subtle details, nuances that the pros in the NFL look for/see vs what we fans or those in the media look for/see.
Not on topic, but I wanted to punch that guy in the face as soon as he started talking. The more he talks the more I want to punch his face. EDIT - as soon as his face is off camera, I didn't want to punch it as much.
Would you rather look at his face for half an hour or listen to him talk for seven minutes with your eyes closed?
Definitely listen for 7 mins. That may be one of the most punchable faces in America Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
