This may not be directly related to this thread, but I didn't want to start yet another one. A buddy of mine were talking about Favre & the Jets & the Packers last night, and he reminded me that in the two best recent seasons that Favre had befroe last year, 2003 and 2004 when the Packers went 10-6, they actually started 4-4, and both years finished out 6-2. ONe of those years the Packers actually looked unstoppable at the end (just like Giants last year), people talked about them as the team of destiny and a good shot to win out on the road, but then they let the game slip away in the infamous 4th and 26 near the end of regulation that allowed the Eagles to take it into overtime. Anyway we were talking about how there is a history of Favre and the Packers starting kind of slow and sloppy, then picking it up in the second half of the season. That was true even last year, despite going 8-0 to start the year, they really did not look that great in many of those games, and benefited from a lot of luck and gifts (Favre in press conferences was even still saying he didn't know if the Packers were actually good when the team was 6-0, 7-0, 8-0). Given Packers are 4-4 and Jets are 5-3, we were wondering if this happened again, is it something about the Packers, Favre (i.e. the Jets would benefit), or both.
Fascinating. Mangini teams have been second half teams. They went 6-2 in 2006 after week 9 and they got 3 out of their 4 wins in the second half last year. Favre's 2nd half + Mangini's second half could = a division if this is the case. I think its all on Schotty at this point.
