Penny is the MAIN reason that the Fins have made it to 4-4 this year? It couldn't be that Ronnie Brown and Porter have been so good now can it? Not according to junc. What does ESPN say about the top AFC E performers?

    myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation?tag=midseason%20afc%2008

They have Porter as the best Defensive Player and Ronnie Brown as the best offensive player? OMG they must have forgotten to ask junc!?!? But we all, including ESPN, are wrong. They even have Favre as the most overrated, which junc (and I) will agree with. He has brought the wins, but not the numbers. So yes, everyone agrees Favre is playing under his potential, but why oh why is Penny not winning any AFC E midseason rewards? If he is clearly the reason the Dolphins have turned around would he not have won one of the following awards: best offensive player, most underrated player, biggest surprise, or most effective acquisition? Everyone is wrong junc, EVERYONE!

Ronnie Brown and his 3.9 YPC is a bigger reason than Chad? A year ago through 7 games he averaged 5.1 YPC and they were 0-7. Porter has been great but the Dolphin D hasn't been great.

This is why you have to watch football and not rely on ESPN. brown has not been great, he's had 2 good games. Chad has been the difference maker down there.

If you think this guy is right then you muist agree Favre is the most overrated player in the division, right?

Chad wouldn't be taking all those hits b/c he wouldn't be holding onto the ball as long as Favre does.

    Favre 5-3

    Pennington 4-4

    Favre beats Miami

    Pennington loses to the Jets

    End of story.

It looks so simple doesn't it? But sometimes you have to look deeper and when you factor everything in there's no doubt who the better QB has been SO FAR. For the ONE MILLIONTH time I hope Favre ends up having a better year but right now it's obvious to any rational fan who is having the better year.

No, thats where you keep making the same mistake. All that matters is wins and losses. That's it. Nothing more. Just ask any GM, head coach or owner in the league. They will all tell you the same thing.

Junc, what you're missing is that in the Dolphins' 4 wins, 2 of them came because of a dominant running game. It doesn't matter what Brown's/Williams' averages are on the season; in 2 of the games they won, they played well.

Without a running game, as you've stated Chad needs, he's not a good QB. There are QB's who exist that can put an important game on their shoulders and win when the running game gets shut down. Chad Pennington doesn't come to mind as one of those QB's.

Miami had a domiant running game in only 1 game this year- at NE. brown had his other good game against SD which helped but Chad going 22 of 29 sure didn't hurt. In their other 2 wins: vs. Buf Ricky and Ronnie ran 21 times for 59 yds(2.8 YPC) and at Den they combined for 26 carries and 75 yds(2.8 YPC). The running game wasn't much of a help in those 2 games, was it?

In two of the wins, the Phins rushed for 226 and 167. Chad also passed well in those games, which was aided by the running game.

The other two wins, Chad passed well and the running game wasn't working as well, and one of those wins, came against a porous Denver D.

Still, its' been said over and over again (even by you) that Chad needs a running game to ultimately succeed. So, in the Playoffs, when the running game gets shut down and Chad faces a top-notch Defense (unlike Denver), what will happen then? Look to the Pittsburgh game for your answer.

Read my post again. SSSSLLLLLLOOOOWWWWWLLLLLYYYY. I believe I very plainly addressed Favre on that list. Did you actually take the time to read it? It's not like it was a long post... Like always, I'm NOT picking just the things that help my argument.

Hey Junc...here is my position plain and simple on this. Has Favre played as well as I would have liked him to play so far, of course not. Does it matter? Of course not. We are in first place with half a season to play. It is ours to win or lose. Does he know more about the offense than he did the last 8 games, of course he does. Will he perform better, of course he will. Everything is looking great if you are a Jets fan. Only you don't see it.

Wait, I think Junc is happy about the state of the team and the positive outlook. He sees that. That's not what this is about.

He doesn't see that Pennington is just a guy who's never going to get the job done when it really counts. Favre has done that, Chad hasn't. Which means, we have a better shot to go the distance with Favre than we would have had with Chad. Junc disagrees.

I wish you were right. I think he would prefer to see the Jets lose without Pennington then see them win with Favre. It's pretty obvious actually whether he admits it or not.

Junc will never be happy with Favre. He likes to say it, but theres way too much proof to contradict it. He loves Penny thats a given. When people point out that Penny did have very good numbers, he doesn't care about "meaningless fantasy #'s", he just cares that Penny took the Jets to the Playoffs. However with Favre this year, the Jets are clearly in the playoff picture and may even win the division, and now all he notices is the "meaningless fantasy #'s" and tries to prove Penny is better.

The problem is, you can't go by W/L record because there are too many variables. It's true, the Jets are a better team, so they should be in 1st.

    But i think I have a solution:

Junc, let's say all things were equal and you were to start a franchise today. You have your team set (be it good or bad, talented or talentless) and you had to choose a QB for this team, and the QB would only play 1 year, just this season. And you're looking for the best option, the guy who'll give you the best chance to go all the way. Would you choose Favre or Pennington?

Anyone who answers that question HONESTLY by choosing Pennington over Farve is either not a serious football fan or is simply a moron. case closed.

Well, I don't care what people say, since I've watched the games this year. He's been effective without a running game.
