It will all be down to the new Head Coach, whenever that decision is made. If the new Head Coach doesn't get a say on Favre, we will not get the coach we need because a new Head Coach is bound to want a say in something like this.

I smell a worse than Pete Kendall situation, and people still won't stfu about it like it was a big deal.

If we alienate Favre, ten bucks says we're called assholes for alienating Favre. Another 10 bucks that if it happens we'll see examples on this board.

He may not have a say but that's not so bad because it will only be for one year. ShadeTree mentioned we may start rebuilding again and I agree but it will be in '10 and not '09. That is when they will dump all of the FAs they brought in last year and start over again. That is also when all of the PSLs that were going to sell have been sold.

Its not do or die like this article says. Trading Coles and Gholston for draft picks would save cap space, there are lots of options here. One of them is getting Brett to take a pay cut, trading him to a team like Tampa might be an option. But of course, Tanny was still a tool for making this trade.

We owe GB three first round picks if we trade him to MN.

That's why he probably wants the Jets to cut him, which is the whole point of the PFT article. That Favre wants to control where he plays this year if even decides he wants to play at all.

Play hardball with Favre if he wants the Jets to cut him demand $$$ back. If not tell him to report to training camp.

The down side of that is the $13 mil in cap he'll take up the whole offseason and the players they'll need to cut to get under the cap.

This is drivel. The media is just drooling for a repeat of last year - wishful thinking on their part. Favre simply doesn't want to make a hasty decision or already decided to retire, but would rather wait until after the SB so that he can go away quietly. There's another article where he stated in so many words "I don't want to go out with another emotional retirement press conference. If I retire, I'll do so quietly this time"

sounds to me like he's waiting until February so he can bow out without it being front page news during the playoffs.

If Favre wanted out to go to yet another team, BIG IF, do you really think that the Jets would play hardball like the Packers. I don't see it.

Technically Vick isn't the "dog fighter", he's the dog executioner.

The guy wasn't even that good (maybe for the first few years, but he lost his mojo when he started sneaking pot through the airport). Get off the crack pipe.

Here's another angle for you... playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right. The NFL makes billions today because of it's long standing history with the american family. I grew up watching football with my old man, and he with his. That's what has made the NFL what it is today.

The XFL flopped because of all of the theatrical WWF bullshit that spoke of bad sportsmanship and thug-like behavior.

When I watch football with my kids, I don't want them have dog-killing role models. I don't want the announcer to say "and here comes Michael Vick taking the field after a two year sentence for animal cruelty" and then for my kid to ask "Daddy, isn't that the guy who electrocuted dogs with jumper cables. A boy at school was telling me he's really cool". PHUCK THAT!

Goodell knows the consequences of letting people like this play, which is why more players are getting suspended now than ever before.

Whether or not Favre is the best quarterback on our team is irrelevant. He is 40 years old and makes a ton of money. He's not a good quarterback now, and why stunt our growth another year of growth of our younger guys? Give a kid a chance. I prefer Ratliff to Clemens, based on what I saw in preseason and what I saw of him in college. I'm not particularly impressed with Clemens, but he could prove me wrong, and I wouldn't be surprised.

Plus, if he's gone, we're under the cap. A cheap Clemens or Ratliff and a run-oriented offense would be as effective as a Favre-led offense, and it would be a fraction of the price.

Agreed.. But it's a shame.. Maybe we'll have some better luck in the Draft..Trade Clemons to the Browns for Anderson....

Man... What does Ratliff's dick taste like?? Because your sucking it really hard... You can't measure what he did in preseason and compare it.. The guys he was playing against are all bagging your groceries at the supermarket... If he is so good he would have not been inactive for every game... You have to give coaches some credit.. Then know when someone can play and when someone can't...

If those coaches were so damn good, we would have scored some points in Seattle...

With as much to do as you guys have in front of you why in the world would you even consider the circus called vick. Peta is going to follow and harass him the rest of his life. Do you really want that distraction?

and for vickblows.. yes, PLEASE bring back the other circus, the afc east would love for you to bring him back. Nothing like a broke dick interception machine caving in at the important part of the season. Bring him back and imo, you are nearly guaranteed you'll not play a 17th game.

On our boards the word is Marty is running strong. Most of us would prefer not to have "him" in the division. I think he would quickly bring order to things and have you moving forward again. I don't know enough about Spags to have any idea if that would be good or bad for us but he is coming from a disciplined team and if he brought that it would be good for you, imo. Good luck, like we were, you are overdue for hitting on a good coach.
