I will wait until after FA and the draft to predict wins and losses but any predictions on primetime games. I will go with one primetime game. I will say either home vs Browns on MNF or a road game vs the Bills on MNF. The league likes to showcase potential franchise QB's so Darnold, Allen, and Mayfield.
I have no faith in Macc... Besides that, We're not the only team drafting and signing FA's either so whatever we do is not happening in a vacuum. We improve? So does everybody else. That $100m is a mirage as we're gonna have to sign our own FA's or start over at the positions. I think we have 24 out of 53? Don't let that cap cash fool you. We have a lot of work to do and it isn't gonna happen over one offseason. New systems take time to impliment and new staffs need time to get to know what they're working with. 2019 is NOT the year. Sorry to burst your bubble.. 2020-21 will be when you see the results of the 2019 retooling.
I disagree a little here. Not everyone improves. For example, two seasons ago, Jacksonville went to the AFC finals. Last year? Not much improvement. But they have a stable front office in Coughlin, right? They had a coach most of this board was upset we didn't hire in Marrone, right? But they got a top 5 defense across the board! Sorry, still didn't matter in the end because they screwed up the QB position. I'm thinking we finally got it right. Darnold's progression/improvement automatically puts us in a better position than last years team. I understand why you wouldn't have faith in Mac, lord knows he's missed on a lot of pics, especially in rounds 2 - 5, but I think it's just premature to look for wins/losses when we don't even have a roster yet, nor do the teams we play next year. Lastly, yeah, it might take a few years for "systems" to fully click, but its not impossible for teams to improve under new regimes. Herm, Mangini, and Rex all made the playoffs in their first year and Bolwes went 10-6.
The point of this thread is to show that there are winnable games. Of course you can't judge what a team is going to be like next year, but judging other teams from last year performance, I feel this is a favorable schedule. Will we get better....hope so, but whether we do or not, there are 11 teams that didn't make the playoffs that we play this year....that's favorable.
The teams we play are starting from a stronger roster and coaching position than we are. We are a 5-11, 5-11, 4-12 team that had a 4-12 roster coached by a 4-12 staff and run by a 4-12 GM that put this steaming pile of shit together who by some miracle is still the GM. Strangely, you mention Jax and I had them as one of our 4 wins (on the road no less). The Skins, Raider, Bengals and perhaps the Fish for emotional reasons gets us to 5 wins. We luck up against either the Giants or the Bills (at home) and we're 6-10. There are no miracles in store for the 2019 Jets but instead, I'd like to see improvement in Darnold, the line that protects him and the talent he has to work with. I'd also like to see what the CS can do but I'm not banking on them turning this around in one year. Not saying its impossible, but I am saying its highly unlikely. 2020-21 or bust..
Too early to tell what kind of team the Jets are going to have - we are looking at the schedule in a 2018 frame of mind . I can understand cman 60 not having any faith in Mac. I can also understand the argument that the Jets or Mac’s product is still unfinished . I think the Jets will probably be improved based a great deal on Darnolds continuing development . While teams have gone from “worst to first “ in a single off season I’m not sure if the Jets will be able to. New coaching staff, young QB, and basically a half roster complete turnover . Mac’s mid round to late picks leave a lot to be desired although it appears he has found a couple of gems in Herndon, Jenkins, possibly Shell. I think he has deserved one final season ( barely )....I happen to think his trading acumen has been very good. FA very so/so so far. I think by the end of this coming season Mac’s fate will be sealed. Genius or bust .
Wishful Thinking.... Again, I'm going with 6 wins max... That in itself would be evidence of an improvement in the roster and the CS.
