No one wanted to pick up Faneca's salary. They did shop around but no takers.

I think somebody will overpay him, just because of his name and having played on the best line in the NFL the past couple of years. Of course, if he weren't the weak link in that line, he wouldn't be out there now, but lets keep quiet about that for now.

Really? Take it easy. We'll be just fine. We didn't lose anything that was vital. We also replaced them both. I would have liked another d-lineman and maybe a little more compensation for Leon, but overall I'm happy with the draft.

Hell, our first round pick was enough to make me happy no matter who we got afterwards.

So the Jets 2010 season was going to be relied heavily on the play of rookies?

Alan Faneca isn't worth 7.5million and he didn't want to take a paycut, so long. People bring up Kendall too much man, Mangold and DBrick are veterans...How about they bring along Decasse's big ass like Faneca did with Brick and Mangold? Relax.

Brick and Mangold, that's an elite O-Line anchor. They make Woody look great, and he wasn't exactly elite in Detroit.

    We'll be fine.

There has to be a roster salary number in the Jets' mind. I have a feeling they are clearing room for D. Sharper somehow/

Kendall fiasco can't be further from what's happening with Faneca.

Kendall was cut DURING THE TRAINING CAMP. There was no one to replace him either.

Chill out, people. The franchise is now in good hands. If Jets brass can reproduce their rookie magic with Ducasse (as they have done with Ferguson and Mangold) then the OL will look strong for years.

I keep saying it but Slauson in my opinion will be our LG this year and then woody goes in 2011 and Vlad steps in at RT.

Callaghan lobbied for slauson ...that is enough imo

The Leon deal, yeah...not a fan.
But this is different than the Kendall situation.
Sure, he plays the same position but that situation was a slap in the face to Kendall who at the time was one of our top linemen.

Faneca is not, and while I normally would bitch about linemen being cut the fact that It's Faneca I'm actually alright with because he was really over rated.
In rewatching many of the games he nearly got Sanchez killed!

He was a good run blocker but I think at his age....and that contract ...he was expendable.

Aw, man, now you've got to pick a new SN. I've been there, same as all the people with some variation of Favre in their shiny new names once were...

He's old and whoever we traded him to would have to pay the huge 7 million salary.

This is not a Pete Kendall situation all over again, that was an aging and injury filled ol that was on the downside of some of their players career. The Jets were paying too much for AF and they needed to go younger in his position. the rest of this line is still good and in their prime, too bring in a younger player now is the right move as he will develop and integrate nicely with a line that cou;d be together for another 3-4 years. :jets:

another move that makes no sense in an uncapped year, why not see if the rookie is ready first before releasing Faneca.

I think we have a really talentyed team but the asinine moves we have made this offseason just keep piling up- jones, leon, Feely, Faneca, ... Giving valuable players away for nothing. Maybe we are turning into the jetskins?

There's no cap this year!!!!! it doesn't matter what we were paying him, they could afford it.
