Well mate im not saying the UK is good, its not!! I was saying that because of all the stuff that goes on here they segregate the fans to stop people getting wound up when they are drunk. Also West Ham is probably the worst stadium to go to, there is always trouble there. Problem is, we are all emotionally attached to our teams, a few beers inside you and it will easily get out of hand. The Dallas fans were very drunk, it was Thanksgiving and i was getting baited all the way though the lot, which was about a 30 min walk. I only had my Jets shirt on at the time and this was on the way into the stadium. I was worried if we won that I would get done outside after, in some ways the Jets helped by getting spanked! but I still got tons of abuse on the way back to the car. ill stick to going to games in NY in the future
that's a lot of missing tape. we really think it went from him cheering to 4 or 5 cops there?! if it was a complaint of a rowdy fan, it surely would've started with 1 or 2 security officers, not cops. i surmise that, when the camera was off, things escalated. i get that the surrounding fans (chargers fans, at that) were saying that he didn't do anything and they were arresting the wrong guy (which indicates, to me, that something happened, right?), but you never have a right to resist arrest, even if you're being arrested for complete bullshit. disclosure: i'm a cop. i would've handled this much differently, especially when the crowd is not behind you like that, but maybe i'm seeing this from a different perspective than you guys. p.s.; i get all warm and fuzzy inside when people hope for cops to get run over and jumped by gangsters. sometimes i wonder if the person whose b&e report i just took or whose tire i helped change says things like "fuckin' pigs!" i know, i know; "get outta here, piece a shit cop!"
There are good cops, bad cops they are just people who have a badge. I am a fan and supporter of the first.
i'd be pretty surprised to find out that anyone is 'anti' police...even the comedians who yell 'oink oink'. it's not 'police' to which people object. it's the individual officers who abuse power and give the rest a bad name. from the looks of this video - mainly that the other fans - sd fans - were saying the guy did nothing - it appears that these cops were 'having some fun' with a paying customer. if that's not the case, i'd certainly be sympathetic to the officers. but on first look, it seems dirty. certainly further investigation is warranted.
Looks to me like Charger fans are sticking up for the guy, even though he was being pretty obnoxious with that cheer (guessing it was going on for quite a while). Leads me to believe there were not grounds for arrest. Cops had no reason to pull the other guy out of the stadium either (although they probably did him a favor - that parking lot looked like a mess and there was nothing good for him to see...)
it still seems very weird to me that you do not have the fans segregated - I am amazed there is not a lot more trouble at the grounds than there is - possibly because of proactive and pretty aggressive policing maybe?
Why I can't go to the Wembley games with douchebag fans from other teams there, don't think I could trust myself.
i just sent the video to mike and mike... im not sure if they will do anything with it but at least now its out in the media and maybe they will mention it.
My guess is someone in that area was an off duty cop (tired of the chant) who texted some working cops to do him a favor... Also, if you look at the girlfriend it seems as if she is putting that guys cell phone number into her phone to fight the charge later (ie someone to testify). If I was her, I would have asked for everyone's cell phone number in the area.
There is a lot of truth to this. In the year I lived in San Diego (mainly lived in Hillcrest and Chula Vista) I had 3 awful experiences with 'San Diego's finest'.
