JD let’s Moses walk to sign a 3yr 15m deal and signs a 37yo to 2yrs 22m and we’re cheering? Anyone with common sense could see there was no way Becton was gonna make it through a season. We could’ve given Moses 3 years for 22m and actually gotten the 3 years out of him. This move now likely moves Fant to RT where he’s a liability, and it’s no guarantee that at 37 yrs old Brown plays as well as Fant has at LT. I’m sorry but ourTackle situation is certainly not something to be celebrated.
Why do I feel like between your username which is a classic troll phrase, the date you signed up, your avatar and your posts that you might not be a Jets fan...
It's amazing. It's like there's only two types of Jet reporters that we're allowed to have: 1. Reporters who hate the Jets, 2. Reporters who will repeat verbatim whatever they are told by the front office and coaching staff. The overarching problem is none of them actually know anything about football.
Why? As @REVISion pointed out this unit may even be better than last year. And last year, with LDT added it was ranked #11 according to pff, and after LDT was added and before Fant got hurt it was actually a good unit. We basically replaced LDT with a better player now, Pro Bowl player, Tomlinson. AVT is on second, year, so should be improved. So, we should be better at LG and RG. Becton was out last year too, so it is a wash. The difference is Brown for Mosely. Now, I do get that Brown is old, but he was still good and comparable to Mosley last year, even better. He made Pro Bowl as alternate, and his pff ranking is also good. It is debatable who is better Mosley or Brown right now. Brown, even though old, is very durable too. Basically our Tackle spot now is a wash vs last year. Guards should be better. Plus second year in the system. Being ranked #11 last year, it should not be a stretch to say we should be in the same ballpark this year with Duane's addition. Now, I do worry about having Fant, who is coming off an injury and Duane, who is old, so it would still be good to add a decent player, like Brandon Shell to the roster. But the potential is there for as good offensive line last last year with LDT, or even a bit better.
Given the circumstances right now, I think the Duane Brown signing is a very solid one and the best he could have done under the circumstances. He seemed to take a step back last year, but he's a longtime, high-end starting OT. Hard to get those in August IF JD low-balled Morgan Moses, that can be seen as a gaffe and I'd definitely agree he mismanaged the OT situation. But we don't know that. I think it's very possible he chose Baltimore where there's a clear path to a starting job. I wanted Moses back too, but don't know how it all went down. My concern with Duane Brown is now there are two LTs. Brown is likely a one-year rental (despite the contract) who has only played LT while Fant is better at LT and the longer term player here though does have experience on the right side. Do you shift Fant back to RT and then move him over to LT again in 2023? That's a lot of switching sides. I'd be curious if Duane Brown can actually perform on the right side for now with potentially Max Mitchell getting a chance to be the longer term answer there
SNY is unwatchable because they dont allow anyone to be critical anymore. It wasnt always like that but it has become that way
i’m fine with negativity but only if you have a logical reason to be negative. The logic part seems to evade him so for his sake I hope he is just trolling. I would assume he is.
You know how you used to wonder how fans of really bad teams could sit through all the losing and all the bullshit and still believe things were going to get better if they waited just a little bit longer? Well the Jets are that team now and most of us are those fans.
I mean we sat and waited til August and then signed a pro bowl LT. I'm not sure this is your strongest point ever.
