Unless we give him a new contract, we'll be responsible for salary only, and can cut or trade him at anytime with no salary cap implications.
Yah, thanks. I didn't see those until after I posted. Thanks for the links! Anyway, after gleaning over their forums, I get the general impression that they're disappointed Barlow got dealt. I guess that bodes well for us, but then again, what do Niner fans know?
Meh, I'm not to happy, I'm not to sad. I think i would of liked duckett a little bit more. But now you know that RBBC is definately be in full effect.
here's the article from the jets site, if anyone is interested http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/show_article?short_name=transactions&article_id=849
I don't mind it.....he's faster than Duckett....I personally have thought TJ was a solid player but he's not the next Bettis, so IMO that makes him a 3rd down tailback or a decent offensive fullback. Barlow is a pure tailback but he is not a considerable improvement over what we have. LINK: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/merc...s/california/northern_california/15320821.htm
The number the SF fans are bandying about is 2.5 million salary for this season. NFLPA.org has him at 3.25 million for 2007 and 4 million for 2008. Those are the cap numbers that would be in effect for the Jets prior to renegotiations.
I dunno why everyone is so down on this guy. He put up a huge season a couple years ago with over 5 yards a carry and 1000+ yards. Then his oline became paper thin and his team had no passing game whatsoever. He was in the exact same boat as Curtis was last year. I think this guy could turn some heads and I like the move.
Don't forget that Barlow was on a terrible team with a very medicore offensive line... Well this could very well be the end for Derrick Blaylock...
I agree wholeheartedly. Give Blaylock and Houston more carries and see what we've got. A good running game centers around blocking too, so is there really a noticable difference? I doubt it. Not happy with this... should have saved the pick, if that's what we gave up. If it's McCareins or Jolly we gave up, then maybe it's not so bad.
It seems no matter who the Jets acquired none of you would be happy.Barlow has the potential to be the feature back this offense needs. The NEGATIVITY around this place is GLOOM and DOOM.
The front office has been very methodical with every move they've made this offseason. I trust that they didn't panic and give up a high pick for Barlow at the last second. Right now, I'm assuming it's no higher than a 4th.
Not after the performance last night. I hate to say it, but its looking more and more like Houston will be cut.
I like the trade I think Barlow can be a good solid back for us. I just hope we didnt give up a high pick.
There is no way Houston will be cut. I think Blaylock will be cut before Houston. However, I am puzzled about how we will keep all these RB's if Cmart comes back.
Those 2 redzone fumbles sure didn't help him. I like Houston, but it seems like someone almost has to get cut now after the acquisition of Barlow. Martin, Barlow, Blaylock, Washington, and Houston is just too many RBs to carry. The more I read about Barlow, the less I like the move. Apparently, he's a soft player despite his size, and likes to dance around instead of smashing the football in. Sorta sounds like a Ron Dayne type. Moreover, he has attitude issues and supposedly "lacks passion". Oh well.
