You're right... It is the same bs.... Changed the title and here's the link to the actual source of the story Guess what? Another Cimini Blog... "Believed" to be seeking $6 mil
$6M is the right number for Landry to be seeking, on a 5 year deal with at least $15M guaranteed. Without the injury history Landry would be looking for a Reed/Polamalu $8-9M deal with $20M+ guaranteed.
Why does no jet player realize how short we are with cap and atleast be little considerate revis says he wants to be a jet for life and Landry says he loves it here and wants to stay.. oh ok well instead of saying it do something like ask for a small deal until we get in a little bit better of a situation cap wise its stupid shit to get the media going And tbh as much as I want a secondary of Revis/Cro/Landry It won't happen everyone is money hungry I mean ok yeah you need to get payed for you elite play but if you wanna REALLY stay you would make sure it happens its not like your family will be on the streets with a year of 3-5 mill money compared to usual pay
Revis says that, to keep selling shirts and put public opinion on his side. Please, the highest paid defensive player in football, at 15 percent of the cap? So, what do the other positions rate, when you consider touches Fuck him. Dump him to any willing taker. And, if I was in the GMs office, my advice would be, " darelle, I know you only care about money...ok, fine....I'm trading you for less value to any of the worst teams in the NFL, so you'll never win, probably not make the HOF, like you will here, and you will have no post football career..,unless that rap thing works out" Football is a business, but so is post football. Trade mevi$ to a team like Jacksonville, where they are so inept...and a HoF player, doesn't get to Canton.
No player anywhere in the NFL is going to take substantially below market value for his services. Occasionally late in the career a player will take less to stay where he is most comfortable or to have a shot at a ring. Every season, however, teams use leverage to force players to take less than they were originally contracted to make for the year. I have no problems with every Jet looking to make his maximum compensation. It's a hard job, and people who think NFL players are playing a game are nuts, and it has real long-term health consequences. Players should make as much as they can now before they are retired, usually a lot earlier than they'd have chosen to be. It's up to the Jets to figure out what makes sense from a competitive standpoint and inside of that what they can afford to pay. Expecting players to say "here, pay me lots less than I'm worth" is kind of silly. But if you think it's not then go into your job tomorrow and tell your boss to pay you lots less than you are worth. I'll guarantee you that would help the competitive profile of the company that you work for and make them better able to compete in the market.
in a job that has a short span and injuries that affect normal daily living occur very often its tough to ask a guy to take one for the team. shit its tough to ask the guy in the middle office at any company to take one for the team. he wants to maximize his worth just like you and i.
has anybody considered that revis has already gotten his payday and would be content to sit on a modest (i mean, still pretty big considering, but not what you people are expecting) salary? he has said numerous times he wants to retire a jet. whether you believe him or not, he has always been a good teammate and i could see him wishing to cement his legacy on one franchise. i know history says he will likely ask for a large contract, but hes made a ton of money already, he might be ok with letting the team around him get better, im sure idzik will explain that to him when negotiating, and i want revis to retire a jet as well, because lets face it, how often do you get to have a guy as special as revis on your team? to shift focus on landry, that is a reasonable price for him to ask for, i certainly wouldnt call him greedy. he knows that his time is limited, and he probably wants to make as much money as possible when he can. hes worth 6 mil, and like has been said before, if injuries werent a concern he could ask for 8-9 mil and likely get it somewhere. im sure that revis and landry would like to play together, so it shouldnt be THAT hard to try and work something out to keep them on the same team. maybe revis will be happy with some nice bonuses. i just dont get why everyone assumes that no matter what revis is going to ask for a crazy contract
^If it's not a financial thing, it's a pride thing. He wants to be paid according to his market value, wherein he is supposedly the best. I think the knee injury should knock that price tag a bit down, but again, he will want market value for a multitude of reasons.
he can remain one of the highest paid corners in the league and still not ask for 16 million. hell if he asked for 12 hed still be right up there. its not as if hes worried about people thinking namdi is better than him anymore, and they could play up the idea of him retiring one of the greatest jets to ever play the game, im sure he would like that. if he actually wants to be the highest paid corner, then shit.
I would sign him for 6 mil. He is actually a good player. Unlike the Calvin Pace's of the world that we usually hand out contracts to.
Crazy Uncle Al, with Aso, and Mevi$ is playing it. That's why the Jets should follow Bellis example, and flip his A$$, while they can get something for him, then let him be a three time problem looking to get paid. Fix the market.
As many have pointd out the Revis and Landry situations are tied together. Revis needs to take 9-11 and Landry 5-6. If not, fuck me both. Trade Revis, and tell Landry see you later.
Yes, I know the contract number, but I thought it averaged at $16 Million with signing bonuses and front load. Regardless, it is ridiculous money for a CB.
