Yeah. A solid (or in our case: existant) pass rush tends to mitigate issues in the secondary. If we trade Revis we can shore up our front 7 which will do wonders for a pretty solid, albeit not lights-out defensive backfield with Cro and Landry. I'd rather get an OL early rather than a RB...give our new QB in 2014 a talented, young, and already gelled line to work behind.
What's everybody complaining about? I've got the solution right here. Let Landry walk & plug in some cheap stiff who barely belongs in the NFL at safety. Then we can add 15+ Million to the starting CB duo. My overall plan is pretty great because it allows the Jets organization to keep the "face" of the franchise. We'll continue our winning formula of 10+ Million dollar contracts surrounded by players who only accept something near vet minimum or rookie contracts.
Love Landry but can't pay him that. Bring back Bell and give more reps to Josh Bush/Antonio Allen or another player. If we trade Revis or Cro, then its another story.
What is everyone's problem with Landry - he was one of the brightest spots on the team this year and he is young. Pay the man.
I don't have a problem with him asking for 6 million, I just hope we don't give it to him. If we're genuinely going to go cheap and build up, I think paying that much for a guy about to turn 30, with a history of injuries is a bad idea.
This is one of the losses that will be hardest for me to accept. I really wish we could find a way to keep him in green for the remainder of his career. This guy epitomizes what " play like a Jet" should mean.
It's a good thing we have so much money tied into elite players like Mark Sanchez, right? THANKS Tannenbaum. For what it's worth, I think we should sign him. If we can just nudge his figure down to 5.5 million a year, I think we should do it. He's one of the few players on this team I would buy a jersey of.
I think if the Jets re sign Landry, Revis is going to be traded. If they don't either sign Revis long term or trade him, then they will committ probably the biggest mistake in franchise history letting him walk with nothing to show. Committing that much money to the secondary really leaves the Jets in no better financial shape long term. Letting Landry go allows them to make that committment to Revis if that is the route they decide on.
I asked this in the other thread and no one replied so I'll try here. Can someone please put a link that says Revis or his agent are quoted as saying he will ask for $16 million... PLEASE.... Not Cimini, Not any other dumb fuck with a blog... It's amazing to me how many of you will run with the devil just to make your points then do a 180 on the same reporters...lol Seriously? is that all it takes to make you guys believe anything? I'm not going to speculate on what a player wants put even if he wanted 12-15 mil it's obvious they are overshooting but nope, let's all buy into an article with no quotes from anyone.. other than Woody who doesn't want to pay anyone.... BOT, I'd re-sign Landry in a fuking heartbeat....
I would like to wish the following players the best of luck in their future endeavors: Landry (greedy) Mevis (greedy) Keller (greedy / can't block) Greene (sucks) Slauson (sucks) Bell (too old) Scott (too old) Pace (sucks)
