We could, why not? As I just stated, we've beaten the Colts and Chargers already in the playoffs with Chad at QB and IMO wth an inferior coach to who we have now. We beat New England up there last season also with Chad at QB. If I'm not mistaken, he's the only opposing QB to win twice at NE's new stadium, unless Manning has now done so.

How so? I said yes and gave examples why. Examples from this decade, no less.

Are you a Jets fan, yes or no?

Do you tape the games, and only watch the wins...yes or no?

It's not a straight question. I'm supposed to handicap a hypothetical playoff game in June? Is LT banged up? Chad hurt? Where are we playing the games? What are the records?

You guys are acting like we'd have no chance against these teams under any circumstances, I'm saying we could beat any of them and we have beaten them with Chad at QB.

Agreed. If the season was decided just based on talent, there would be no point to playing through the season. Talent-wise no, we don't stack up to these top teir teams. However, there are always upsets, surprises, etc. that no one can predict in any game. There's no point to saying that there's zero chance of any particular team making it to the Super Bowl because anyone can get lucky, make a good run and then take that momentum through the playoffs. Sure, the Patriots have a much better chance of making it than, say, the Browns, but you can't just divie the SB odds among the Pats, Colts, and Chargers and pretend like no one else has a chance.

That's why we cheer, and that's why you play the damn season.

If both teams are healthy do we win either games. Period. On paper when you go through out lineup v.s Theirs do we win. Yes or No.

This is a good acceptable answer. The point that I try to make is im sick of us having to be lucky, make a good run or have to go on a roll to win. Basically everything has to go perfect for us to win. Espically with Saint Pennington. I want the answer to that question regarding the Pats, Colts and S/D to be yes. Im not hoping for a miracle like us having to face two of the three teams mentioned and we get lucky and win. I want a team that can play on their level and if it takes a year or two of rebuilding to get there as opposed to a quick first round exit because we were just the best of the scrubs that made the playoffs then I would rather get better picks and get to the dance when I have at least a punchers chance of winning.

I dunno. It would be nice to be the dominate "elite" team for once, but it would also get boring and predictable. I would rather see the Jets win it from behind as an underdog, although I would settle for winning it period. :)

Any time you make the playoffs you have a puncher's chance of winning, that's the whole point. That's why everyone is scrambling to make the playoffs from Week 1. Of course everyone wants to be the dominant team, but you never know when or if that happens. For all their success, New England wasn't ever dominant. They often needed late FGs to get by, a crazy call in the tuck game, all kinds of breaks.

Again, that's the playoffs. A made or missed kick, the bounce of a ball like SD vs NE last year, all kinds of stuff. You can't plan for most of it, all you can do is try to get there and play the games, which we've been doing any time we've had a healthy Chad for any length of time. The days of crushing everyone in your path like the 90s Cowboys or 80s 49ers are over. There are no long rebuilding periods anymore, it's a year to year league. Anyone who tries rebuilding for more than one year is out of a job.

....unless if your name is Matt Millen.

Anyway, what you're saying is what I was trying to get at more with my previous post, only you worded it better

Thanks. Yeah, Matt Millen is like the Elgin Baylor of football. How he's still the GM is beyond me.

These are all good points and the best any of us will ever come to a definitive answer on any of it. Hey, it ain't no exact science, fellas. To look for a "yes or no" answer regarding us being able to beat any team or playing in any playoffs is simply foolish.

Football is football, and as IS says above, crazy calls and even the wrong bounce on the ball can cost you the game (or similarly, win it for you, everything else being equal). For that reason, it's just as impossible for anyone to make a definitive call on us winning a game as it is to declare with 100% certainty that you'll even be alive 5 years from now.
