Really sick of being SB Champs of the off-season. I dont care how mistreated , signed players are towards ex team. Shut up and put up, and just do your job making the jets contenders. That shit always bites us in the ass. Just get the picks right, and prove it. Start making those off season victories count. Let's go
I’d take Cole back or even crowder. We’ll see how it plays out but right now it’s the biggest problem on the roster IMO.
I think if Davis had played even solid last year, there might not be as much urgency to find another difference maker, just role players. But the guy had as many mental errors as any receiver we had, he was a drive killer.
WR's and QB's often share a common mental state, whether bad or good. They're so dependent on each other and when one is off the other often is also.
I’d bet money Cole is resigning and we are drafting someone at 10. Not ideal but at this point I’ll settle for even a slight upgrade at WR despite us needing a big one. I will never understand how Douglas didn’t make a move for Cooper. Looking at the WR rooms of the teams Douglas came from is frightening, so maybe I do understand it: he’s not a good talent evaluator when it comes to WR, sans Elijah Moore.
It would make too much sense to retain Crowder imo..,but i think that bridge has been burned. In terms of the article, and overall team improvement, how does it not mention the players we are losing or lost in FA? Crowder, Maye, Fatukasi, Moses, Phillips.... All starters other than Phillips, who I feel has the potential to start again. I like some of these signings, but we keep creating new holes, and the roster has a really long way to go.
Out of all those guys you named how many did you want back? Maybe Maye I could say the others almost anyone could give the same production if not better and younger. I don’t get why we harp over letting guys walk, if they were doing anything good we have more wins. Sadly JD is still reworking and getting rid of average players from prior regime
Starting to think that the staff wanted to upgrade the TE room more than the WR room. This offense needs TEs to run, and we had zero output tbh last year. Yes we're thin at WR but there's plenty of time left until the season starts. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
So you think getting rid of good players, and creating new holes, is the way to get better? Getting rid of players from a past regime, simply because they were from a past regime, is just a terrible MO for a GM to have. Improving the roster and winning games should be the MO.
Most of those guys were average at best and at the price tag some of them got paid and fit for team I didn’t want them back personally. Didn’t really want Maye either coming off an injury and DUI, and what he wanted to be paid at his age. So no I have no problem with letting them go. If they were actually good maybe we would of paid them to stay. Same thing y’all did with overrated Robby Anderson, never understood the love for that guy and his selfish self. Ran the go route and didn’t block but y’all wanted him to be paid 15m lol crazy
That’s what I’m trying figure out and the roster isn’t complete yet. Guys will be cut and the draft will infuse more talent into the team. I really don’t miss any of those guys
Well on DL, we are losing Fatukasi, Rankins, and Phillips, while retaining Sheppard. Who is playing 3 and 5 tech, and doing the 2 gapping, in the 4-3 Under? That's a downgrade on a team already struggling against the run. At WR, we are losing Crowder and Cole. Downgrade. At S, I really like Whitehead, but it's a slight downgrade to Maye....maybe a push at best. In either event, it's not improving the team. Losing Moses is a downgrade for starting RT, or at least depth in the event we shift Becton over. Players walking creates new holes which then need to be filed, on a team which already has a lot of holes. We will have more opportunities to pick up players in remaining FA and then the draft, so all is not over. But the article is suggesting the team has vastly improved as of this point in FA, without factoring in any of the losses. JD has a pattern of 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
DL… did we lose Rankins? I don’t think we did. Foley creates a whole but that’s just about the only glaring hole I see right now on this roster. And maybe we kick JFM inside assuming we draft edge and Lawson comes back healthy. Either way, this is the one area I can agree we downgraded. Losing Crowder and Cole is not a big deal to me. Crowder would be nice for some vet leadership but Berrios is a better all around weapon and has more chemistry with Wilson in a few games than Crowder did the rest of the season. We absolutely need to add another body and I’d assume we add one of the top 2 WRs in the draft so at the end of the day that could easily be viewed as an upgrade. Moses was never resigning here. One of becton or Fant was always getting that spot. Sure you’d love the depth but it’s hard to say the OL downgraded by any stretch of the imagination.
