Totally agree with Spaulding, even though his avatars give me nightmares. Yes, Vilma is a solid performer, the best the Jets have, and very very good. But if this is strictly a fantasy list, it serves no point since fantasy stats in football don't reflect real value like blocking to open up holes, forcing offensive linemen to gang up on you so another guy can get the sack, throwing the ball away on a second and short play rather than risking a killing INT, etc.

If it's not a fantasy list, than it's just plain wrong. Vilma is not the kind of explosive talent that merits a #2 ranking. He is a great role player, the best member of the Jets' defense, but he tackled a lot more than he should have last year because the D-line was getting creamed. He wasn't a fumble-forcing, interception-making, sack-producing guy, he was a solid, sometimes great, often terrific, always-learning player on a bad club. I think he has a lot of improving to do, and could be one of the best LBs in the league someday soon. But he's not there yet.

Fantasy or not, how can AJ Hawk make this list. Didn't he just get drafted?

Nobody is asking you. And if Coleman cracks the Top 75 Kerry Rhodes should be a no-brainer to make that list. Heck, they should've rated him ahead of Coleman...

I don't know if anybody has pointed this out or not, because I didn't bother reading the whole thread... but...

with IDP fantasy scoring some of the true elite players in the league usually creep up to the top of the scoring, then the rest are usually the best player on a defense that is constantly on the field.

Case in point, the last time I did a FFB league with IDP I used to always get Pat Tillman, one because I am a fan of his and two because he was the best player (other than Ronald McKinnon) on a terrible defense. He was usually racked up tackles, because the D-line and O-line couldn't make them.

SO, Vilma is projected in the top 5 for the same reason as Kieth Bullock, they are both the best players on defenses that will spend alot of time on the field... which isn't necessarily a good thing for the Jets. It just means the person who did this list expects us to suck on offense again.

Most tackles take place past the line of scrimmage.

Vilma is 2 he deserves he does not i repeat does not miss tackles... And makes the play when it has to be done... For a guy in his thrid year that is outstanding he continues to climb and not hit the wall...

Rhodes is on the list because of his ability to play the everything i dont think he is one dimensional at all he had alot of tackles and rarley misses any either you guys know guys who do not miss tackles is huge in the NFL... He makes the tackle he has to make on anybody. Good nose for the ball.

And coleman because of the tackles aswell we sucked against the run so someone has to protect our linebackers. He had a whole lot of tackles too for a safety that is solid.

Dude, Freeney is no hype. IMO you are wrong. Freeney is probably the most talented end in the league, top 5 at his position. The guy is a beast.

There's nothing wrong with putting Vilma at the top of that list. There are really no NFL linebackers at the moment that are just clearly heads and tails better than him. Is he the most dominant linebacker in the league? No, not by a longshot. Is he the most dominant linebacker in the league who is headed into just his third season and can be expected to improve yet again this year? Yup.
