You're kidding right? No quarterback succeeds with the talent we had last year. That is not a normal condition for a QB - this sounds like a whole bunch of bull-shit, I didn't read your entire post but I can't take someone serious that says something like that. 2011 he had decent talent around him - it was good enough to account for 32 scores and a top 3 RZ efficiency
I did not say that. I said Sanchez had it easy in 09-10 because he was not exposed to throwing in passing situations. That he was playing in almost ideal situations that a normal QB does not play in. I will quote what I said to make it easier for you to understand. In 2009-2010 In 2011-2012 he actually had to throw in passing situations where he was exposed to an actual rush. He was allowed to throw in passing situations and had to sink or swim without the training wheels of limited exposure that he had in 2009-2010. He had to pass in situations that a normal QB has to play in. In 2012 irrelevant of personnel Sanchez still led the league in under throws and overthrows. This has nothing to do with personnel. What I find hypocritical here is Sanchez excuse makers say he would have done better if Holmes was not injured but Holmes would not have been injured absent a bad throw by Sanchez causing the injury. You cannot have it both ways. Its kind of like saying Judge I may have filed my taxes if I had not killed my bookeeper. The problems with Sanchez are many. We talked about the playing scared and lacking toughness in the previous post and how that effects the rest of his game. To summarize Sanchez quickly one can say he is essentially a game manger who turns the ball over at an alarming rate. He has the worst of all traits of all QBs. Sanchez does not have the accuracy to complete passes unless his receivers are basically uncovered. Take a QB like Rex Grossman. Sanchez turns the ball over at a similar but higher rate than Grossman but he has none of Grossman's upside. Bad turnover QBs like Grossman generally have an upside where they can get hot and briefly pick a defense apart. Sanchez lacks this ability and does not have an upside. He has proven f teams leave his receivers wide open he can complete some of his passes. Case in point the Bills in game 1 of 12. If they sell out on the run and do not cover his receivers he can complete some passes but then again so can any junior college QB. One thing Sanchez did well in 2011 was designed goal line runs. The Jets did not have a short yardage running game in 11 or a short yardage back and they used QB designed runs very effectively to compensate which opened up a lot of easy play action TDS to uncovered receivers. Which meant a lot of easy goal line TDs in 2011. Essentially Sanchez was the beneficiary of a lot of easy TDs that would normally go to a RB that went to him as we lacked a goal line running game. Blame the high TD Red zone rate on whomever you want. Whether it is Moore's influence, Shotty's playcalling or Sanchez's running ability but either way its a phenomenon or perfect storm not likely to happen again. Sanchez is a game manger who has to rely on a strong running game to create a surprise when he passes. In his case it does not matter who his receivers are as he needs a defense to not be expecting the pass to succeed. He is not going to be able to throw a receiver open or fit balls into tight spots. He does not have the accuracy or arm strength to do either. It may happen occasionally but occasionally he hits receivers in the hands rather than throwing the ball a yard behind them. But its not something he or anyone can count on.
Since when does personnel not matter? So just throw any old receiving corps out there & any 5 pot bellies to protect a QB?? I'm not sure I understand this. This is a league of MATCH-UPS .Both on the outside as well as in the trenches. If nobody is open, the pocket collapses or a defense doesn't bite on the scheme's mechanism...what is the QB supposed to do?? Overthrows/underthrows can ABSOLUTELY be a result of surrounding cast. What if the receiver ran the wrong route? What if protection breaks down? What if the defense knows the play? You don't think those variables affect ball placement?
Why have the comments of some no mark made 4 pages here....? Can't wait for the start of the season and we can talk proper football
really hard to watch http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011100214/2011/REG4/jets@ravens#menu=highlights&tab=recap Championship game. Give him one more chance and we are in the dance. If we could get any pressure on Ben we win this game. 2010 was a lot of fun. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011012300/2010/POST20/jets@steelers#menu=highlights&tab=recap 2011 and 2012 are just bad, bad years of offense. Sanchez gets plenty of blame and he deserves some, but the talent or lack there of combined with injuries and lack of depth is a plausible excuse. Tanny, failed to keep a solid offense together. He failed to identify character players and leaders of the huddle. His offensive scouting was terrible, he addressed none of the holes and added little for 2 years. How did Sparano and Tebow land here? How was Wayne Hunter still RT for part of pre season in 2012? How did you replace LT?
Have to say this past year, OUR OFFENSIVE LINE, Just FLAT OUT SUCKED. And you could have put the top three QB's back there and we would be talking how they all suck now. Some people just don't get what has to happen for a single play to happen. OK Im done with this topic.. Lets watch some Jet football.
