Bradshaw would be a great signing, but why would he want to come in this situation? He had a good year last season and will probably be out of our price range anyway.
I should have worded myself better. What I meant was that Goodson was signed with the intention of him winning the battle and becoming the starter. They feel he could be the explosive back we need with great speed and agility. Of course he is not the starter until they start going at it, but I think there is that idea that he will most likely win the job.
He is coming off of an injury and he is 27 years old. If you read all the articles with quotes from the Steelers and Packers, who are both targeting him, they all say that they will probably offer him vet minimum. If every team interested is offering vet minimum, he will probably come to grips that he is not worth more than that.
He still had 1015 yards last season with a 4.6 average per carry. Still think he has more in the tank.
Oh I definitely think he still has more left in the tank. He has just been dealing with constant foot injuries. He has a great incentive to sign here considering he has been in New York with Giants for years. He would not be moving at all and he would still be able to keep his roots in New York. Not to mention, we have no for sure starter at the RB position, which is exactly what he is looking for. A starting role to compete for and he won't need to leave his home. Match made in heaven if you ask me
I think there is an idea that he has the tools we want in a running back, but lets face it, this guy is as unproven as they come. Sure he could work out great or he could end up cut at the end of August. Potential is not production. Flynn was signed with every intent that he would become the Seahawks long term starter. He got out played in camp and became a high priced back up. This could very well be Goodson's fate. Bringing in more bodies for the job is a good thing for us.
I don't think we'll be cutting him. I think if he does not win the starting job, he still could be lethal as a pass catching back.
i didnt realize he was 27. thought he was closer to 30.seems ike he has been around forever.that changes my opinion. if he wants to come in for vet min. with incentives i wouldn't mind that
I would love to see this signing if on the cheap. We need some f'n character and backbone on the offense in the worst way. Mangold is the closest thing we have to a leader on that side of the ball. Goodson is really an unknown with potential upside (like Schilens was), and is being brought in to compete. He is not a lock to start by any means.
I heard that interview live. Those quotes are correct, but they don't tell the story at all. Bradshaw's tone and attitude were not about Jets at all. I got a distinct impression that he was just shopping himself around. He mentioned several places where he'd like to play -- I recall Pitt and Denver ... Or was it Detroit? It was Kay who kept mentioning Jets and bringing up Ryan. I'm sure Bradshaw would love to stay in town, but there was no mention of interest from Jets, only what Ahmad would consider. In short, I think it was more show-driven, plus a bit of landing spot fishing from Bradshaw. In any case, I don't want him here.
Yeah the more interesting and popular team.. No one gives a shit about the Giants, which you prove by trolling here rather than discussing your team on their forum.
You're not making much of a case for the Jets, haha. I've always been a Jets fan but I would much rather have 2 Super bowl wins in the last 5 years than be the team that is "interesting" and "popular" (not to say hated by most). I envy Giants fans (at times).
If you are going to envy a team, you could do a lot better. Extemely inconsistent team despite having one of the better QB's in league. I had the choice, once rooted for both teams, but wouldn't have it any other way but die hard Jets fan. The Giants are irrelevant on this forum, and to most media outlets (although i'd prefer the Jets to be a little less relevant to the media as well).. So a troll like this hanging here on this forum shows me he is bored with his team......and generally just a dueche.
Absolutely. Signing him to a low salary contract does not preclude us drafting a RB and would mean depth in the backfield for the first time in ages.
Wouldn't have it any other way. There's just that feeling where you know you've picked the right team that resonates with you. The Jets are that team for me.
I'm just not seeing it. Goodson and Bradshaw are basically the same player. Same speed, same ball running ability (quick, able to slip a tackle, but no break away speed), the biggest difference I see is Bradshaws nagging foot injuries and him being 2 years older. The age I don't think is a big deal but the foot certainly could be. I mean we have what I consider to be 2 pretty good even if they are a bit still unproven backs in Powell and McKnight. If we hadn't already signed Goodson I'd say go for it, fact is we already have 3 running backs that could probably start as it is. Why use even more cap space that we don't have to sign a guy that's not really any more talented than the guys we have, he's just more proven.
