Yep, spot on Bannon. With the designation, the Pats can severely limit press access to Tebow.

So... How long before the Media starts to ask Bill B. "Why isn't your Star player on the field more often?"

Why was there more of a Tebow frenzy here than in NE?
Because we have Mark Sanchez..that's pretty much EOS...

First because it was NY. We probably had more reporters at the presser than NE has people. Second because he had just come off a successful year in Denver where they even won a playoff game. People thought he might have been here to compete for the job. Now he goes to NE after a disastrous year and where Brady is the QB.

You realize that Tebow beat the Jets as a starter, right?

And that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that any NFL defense would rather face an offense with Tim Tebow than Tom Brady. And it was the Broncos who beat the Jets with Tebow starting, not Tebow solely beating the Jets as you guys love to portray. The Broncos defense and special teams scored more than their offense that day.

    You guys are awesome.

Not worth a thread of its own, but I found this amusing.

Tim Tebow may no longer be physically present on the Jets' roster but he won't be soon forgotten. Not so much for what he accomplished in his one season with the team -- he was 6 for 8 for 39 yards, and 23 of those yards came on a fake punt in Week 6 -- but for everything else, including the money the Jets are still doling out for Tebow.

Last week, the Patriots signed Tebow to a two-year contract with no guarantees. The deal will reportedly pay him $1.36 million total, and, as ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini notes, the Jets are no longer on the hook for Tebow's salary. But (you knew that was coming) Cimini adds that New York is still making payments to the Broncos -- $1.53 million, to be precise -- as part of last spring's trade agreement.

"In other words," Cimini wrote Sunday, "the Jets are paying more for a ghost than the Patriots will pay over two years for the actual player -- if he makes the team."

Sunk cost. The Jets have far worse dead money on the cap right now. Writing a story about Tebow's dead money gets more web traffic though. So enjoy having that clown show on the team if he makes it.

I was at the bar last saturday night and had a patriots fan for a bartender. ..
The whole bars' asking him about Tebow and all that jazz and he painted his little picture about how he doesn't mind the move, not a big deal... etc.

It had a bizarre feel to it, considering we were there a year ago. It won't be long before him, the rest of patriot fans, and the New England organization gets tired of that dog and pony show. Belichick doesn't look too happy already (although he never does I guess).

We like to say that Johnson was behind the Tebow move here for publicity, and I tend to agree with that. For some reason people aren't making the same claims in NE, but honestly the more I think about it, I think Kraft had more to do with it than BB. He's been making comments lately, that makes you wonder. The Pats used to be the feel good team and bandwagoneer's favorites but that reputation has taken hits in recent years and most NFL fans now outside of Masshole land hate them and BB.

Is it possible that when faced by pressure from the top and from within (Tebow's butt buddy - McDaniels) that BB reluctantly agreed? If so he's going to have a miserable year if they don't cut him in TC.

Ultimately, though this is nothing but good for Jets fans. That offense has been an efficient machine for a decade now, the last thing they need is something to mess with their heads. Not only do they not even really NEED Tebow the football player (don't "fix" what's not broken).. they, perhaps more than anyone, absolutely don't need Tebow the distraction.

  16. Tebow mania is pretty relentless. Bellichick has his way w/ the media but I don't think he's ever dealt w/ something quite like this. The questions come every single day. No matter the response the day before or the circumstances. BB is all about avoiding distractions. Problem is..Tebow is a constant distraction no matter what parameters you put in place.

I know it may be difficult to believe but Tebowmania lasted about 24 hours here.

That may be true, and I do think the Patriots are handling it much better than the Jets did - partly because the situation is just more suitable for him BUT ... you haven't even seen training camp yet, let alone pre-season and September. Maybe it's a bit early to declare Tebowmania dead?

You want quality reading? Read any of yahoo's Tebow / Patriots articles. Skip the article (they're inaccurate - especially today's stinker) and head straight for the comments. It's almost comical (and scary) how people think. When did Rex start skinning babies?
