I wonder if LC still has the speed anymore. When I lived in Florida when he was FSU the papers actually said he was the better receiver then the guy the Bengals chose ahead of him. If that department store incident never occurred he may have gone much higher in the draft
Will see as the season progresses but I am sure the newspaper types also heard those Duke comments & like vultures are just waiting to strike concerning VG. Cimini has already alluded to it in several of his blogs as has the Post guy Canny. As for EM BF has more FB knowledge probably on both sides of the ball so I have believe that his judgement will come more to for & if EM continues his hard headed ways well then I can forsee a clash especially if we open slowly like 0-3 or maybe even 1-2. I am sure Woody is looking for immediate ROI with what he spent on Jenkins, Pace, Fancea & Woody & BF. Yes Pace is supposded to be a QB knock them down guy also but 2 rushers are better then one right?
I love Farve's Keep it simple stupid attitude. Let the players play and not think about the robotic prevent offense designed for CP! This is football not rocket science. By years end Bf will be calling and improvising the offense.
Quote: "...I agree with that slightly. If I'm the CS, I'm letting Favre do some playcalling with what he knows, but not right away - later in the season when he has a better grasp of the playbook. Can a Green Bay fan who followed him here tell us about Favre's 2 minute drill effectiveness...." I think this is a very interesting issue -- the key of course is how well Brett's experience can be brought to bear on this team in the situations they find themselves in. The CS is charged with determining the strengths and weaknesses of the offensive players and putting them in the best situation to win on each play. Having a guy of Brett's experience on the field will greatly improve this process if it is collaborative, and not necessarily hierarchical. One gets the impression that this collaboration is what everybody is now working on in the offense. I'm sure the OL and the RBs all are asked for their input along with Brett, the WRs, and the CS. Brett has continually emphasized communication and getting on the same page as the key to successful chemistry. Who is the "Boss" is set aside in this tactical approach. It's the HC's job to arbitrate when there's not a concensus. But lack of concensus is a mutually acknowledged failure, so I believe it's the last thing they're going to settle for. Team is a horizontal vector not necessarily improved with a lot of top down commands.
I know you are joking but you know the NYJs history in games that they should win. We still have no PR from what I seen this year. We have 2 less then ordinary DEs as 1st stringers. VG so far has been blah big time from what I seen. Against this type of D CP can thrive with his D & D so I would not go out on the limb with over confidence that we can swagger into Miami & just show up & get the W.
I can not argue with this but I do feel that Cp will find a way to dink and dunk his way from winning the game. I strongly suggest we heavily blitz whenever we can and do everything possible to make him throw.
If Miami is able to run all over us it's going to be another long season. I'm sick of watching teams run it down the Jets throat. Until they can actually stop someone from doing it they'll scare no one and teams will come in confident that they can do it too.
Got to get better then ordinary DEs. Until we do we will continue to be stepped all over sorry to say
Yes that would seem to be the best key to the W but to do that we have to stop there running game which is doubtful at this time based on the performance of out 2 DEs
I come from the school either you got that IT or you do not & in our 2 DEs cases they fall into the do not class. I am sure Mangini as a supposed D whiz knows of the limitations of the 2 of them but that just goes to show how valuable a IT DE is since he could not secure better then SE & KC in the off season. If is thinking was well Jenkins will make those 2 better then IMHO he again erred in his judgement of those 2 players
Hopefully they can step up their game or play adequate. If not then maybe the Lb can make up for their shortcomings. Justin Miller at Cb is another disaster waiting to happen.
A 3-4 is a LB driven defense anyway. If the DE's can hold up their positions, the LB's should be able to make plays.
Ah the key words "hold up". In the Wash game at lleast KC was collapsed which is why those large runs by Betts took place
I think we have driven past JM & Lowery will be Revis partner at the corner. If you have to use LBers to shore up the DL then you are only weakening the D. Actually since the BF era is short 2 years I figure that would mean we would have to find 2 upgrades for KC & SE this coming off season which would be a chore & a half IMHO.
There are a lot of kids coming out of college that can play 3-4 DE. The next two years there are plenty of DE candidates. But this team still needs more drafting at the LOS and a heir to the QB throne after Favre. If the quality drafting continues, the Jets will find the DEs.
