That was Tannenbaum. Kendalls contention was Tanny promised him a 1 million dollar raise in the offseason. Hard to blame that one on Mangini. This is the same Tannenbaum who screwed up the Revis contract that created the hold out and will create another Revis hold out after next season.
First of all I disagreed with the implicit notion by the OP that Mangini and Ryan had control of all roster moves. My point instead is that, assuming as the OP did that all roster moves were in fact controlled by the HC, it was notable that he left out the Kendall situation. There is certainly no reason to distinguish the relative involvement of Tanny in the Kendall situation as compared to other roster moves that were going on at the same time. As for Kendall himself, however, I must disagree with you that Mangini was not part of that. He was. Remember putting Kendall in the rookie dorm, and demoting him to second string in camp? Mangini did those things. Whether they were directed by Tanny or not, I really don't know and doubt you do. But what is clear is it would be incorrect to say that Mangini had NO INVOLVEMENT in the situation.
I should keep a tally of how often you miss the point. The point was not whether Kendall was right or not. The point was that the situation had been brewing all off season, the Jets did several things to exacerbate it, including Mangini, and THEY HAD NO PLAN B FOR KENDALL'S DEPARTURE. Choosing to fill his slot with Clarke was the most ridiculous and damaging roster move made by the Jets in the last ten years, maybe twenty. That's the point, not who Kendall's agent was. Duh.
Mangini backed his GM who made him the youngest HC in the NFL. The dispute was about promises that Tannenbaum made to him. No different than the dispute Revis had with the Jets last year when Rex was the HC. You can disagree all you want you're wrong on this one. Mangini didn't get rid of Kendall, Tannenbaum did.
You seem to be having comprehension problems today. I never said Mangini got rid of Kendall on his own. I was pointing out that the OP assumed that Mangini was responsible for all roster moves when he was HC, but left out mention of the Kendall situation. If somoene wants to assume Mangini should get the credit for all the "good" roster moves that occurred while he was HC, it was an obvious error to also not mention the Clarke/Bender fiasco. That was my main point. A subordinate point was that Mangini in fact was somewhat involved, but that is clearly not the main point. Hope this cleared it up for you.
LOL... I'm not here THAT often to follow all the ins and outs.. ARE YOU THE NEW KING AROUND HERE? My point was Kendall and his agent blindsided them with a load of bullshit about redoing a brand new contract...... That's all I have to say, can I be excused now.
I'm not having comprehension issues today but I appreciate the implied senility along with your witty sarcastic banter. A true comedic joy! You went so far as to bring up the rookie dorm situation but you seemed to totally miss the point. Mangini was clearly involved in personal decisions but he was not involved in contracts. Tannenbaum under 2 HC has been accused of promising renegotiations with key players and walking away from it. I have no doubt Mangini made a bush league play on the rookie dorm move to back up his GM on a cheap out contract move but that doesn't mean he wasn't involved in the evaluation of talent, he clearly was. As you well know contracts and talent evaluation are not the same thing. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Well, this is hardly a monarchy. And if it were a democracy, which it is not that, either, I will make a Shermanesque statement and foreclose that option. But thanks for the thought. Biggs, If I were you I would take the rest of the day off, rest up over the long weekend and see how the old noggin is doing on Tuesday. Have a good one.
:rofl2::rofl2::lol: There are very few if any young guys on this board with your sarcastic witty sense of humor.
...and the witty, clean, healthy, constructive exchanges between the two of you is still very refreshing.
As I assume you know, I think you are one of the better posters here, so I appreciate you taking my posts in the good humor with which they are intended.
