Since you can’t infer the geography to mean jets fans, let me clarify:

No one who isn’t a Jets fan would take Darnold over Mayfield.

I wanted Mayfield last year. He was a better QB out of the box and I’ll never forget his first game where he came out and lit us up. I really like Mayfield.

Still though, I like Sam’s poise and I like the way he came back after his injury with more. I think we’re going to see more and more from him as time goes on. He’s definitely the right QB for us.

    Sticking with Sammy.

Mayfield had a great, fiery, take no prisoners attitude....he has the Johnny 'Mr Football''' Manziel 'tude without the immature dumb shit. I would take him in a heartbeat.

    .....but

Baker is still quite small. I think he's like 5'-3", 109 lbs. A bit Doug Flutie-ish (Flutie also beat the Jets while playing for the Bills!). Being small in stature does NOT rule out some level of success. But all things being equal, he WILL have more batted passes. He WILL miss wide open WRs that he just didn't see. And he MIGHT get his small-ish fame mangled over his career (although NFL rules now a day greatly favor the QB). He could be on the RG3 path.

Sam is a bit younger, much taller, bigger, and a better pocket presence. He can also be very elusive in and out of the pocket (the opposite of Drew 'The Statue' Bledsoe). But Sam is not 'fiery'. Sam is more calm and collected. Even keeled, through thick and thin. A true 'captain'.

Baker will do well like Fran Tarkington. Small, fiery, and finds a way to win.

Sam will do well like Roethlisberger. Big, strong, elusive, and finds a way to win.

End of the day it will depend on coaching and the team around them.

I am pretty shocked that the Cards might be giving up on Rosen that quick. It tells me two things. One the importance of mobility in the pocket and 2nd all th rumors of Rosens personality problems are likely true.

I also wonder if the Bills will be drafting their new QB in 2020. My guess is they will be stubborn and wait until 2021. A shame for them as their defense was historically good last year and I am jealous of what they did improving their OL. But, I am glad for us that they have Allen. Hopefully, they won't start Barkley against us again.

All joking aside Allen should consider a position switch. He is a great athlete, big, tough and a good kid. He just cannot throw from the pocket with any consistency.

Jealousy is a serious mental illness. Laughter followed by fear are two clear signs that you should consider committing yourself.

It isn't true that no non-Jets fans would take Darnold over Mayfield, but there's a lot of homerism in this thread. I understand individual posters making logical arguments why Darnold is better, but there's no way 66 out of 68 votes would be pro-Darnold without homer bias. Having said that, most neutral observers would take Darnold over Allen.

I hate this time of year, you know, the time between the season ending and the bills being irrelevant again.

Most people call this time of year the offseason. I call it Bills fans come out of hibernation season.

Except the poll isn't who's better it's would you trade Darnold for Mayfield. That's a different question.

I think Jets fans overall are very realistic. Most Jets fans hate the Jets more than any other team except the Pats. At least 50% of this fan base skews decidedly negative. 66 out of 68 says both homers and "haters" think the same way on this one.

Saying most neutral observers would take Darnold over Mayfield is insane. Only hard core knowledgable football fans would take Darnold over Mayfield. The general "neutral" public would look at the stats and go Mayfield all the way. This board has a highly diverse group of very knowledgable football fans and a large portion of them wouldn't favor a Jets player if they thought the other guy was going to be better. They would happily say Mac screwed up by not getting to the 1 spot.

Everything went just so swimmingly for Baker last year, it was like the perfect storm for him. I can’t wait to see how he handles when adversity inevitably hits him. He is under enormous pressure this year with a team with the most talent in the division, it’s AFCN title or bust for him, can’t wait to see how he handles it.

Not gonna lie, hope both he and the Browns fall flat on their faces this year.

Buffalo fans' IQ goes up when they sleep.

    It's a proven fact.

Choosing Darnold over Mayfield isn't related to football knowledge. There are highly knowledgeable people who prefer Mayfield (Sean McVay has come out and said it), and there are idiots/trolls who prefer Darnold (Colin Cowherd). I was pro-Darnold before the draft and still think very highly of him, but on this thread the bias is way greater than the knowledge.

Agreed, I think the Cards would be utterly stupid to do that. I hope they do, just so the Jets are guaranteed Bosa or Allen, but it's pretty moronic when they many holes. I think they are exponentially more likely to try and trade back.

You can safely go ahead and write him off.
He's less agile than Eli, and less likeable than Jay Cutler.
That's a combo that's not going to work at this level, and Ariz clearly has buyers remorse already.

He'll hang around a couple more years, and get a few more coaches and GM's fired before he runs out of chances tho.
I'm just hoping the Giants are next on that train!

    Excellent post!

When you think about it, it really is rare for Jets fans to overwhelmingly agree on anything, let alone one of our QB's.
It's so refreshing to have Darnold here.

Rosen isn't Kingsbury's guy. Kyler is a better fit for his offense from what I've read. We don't know what the Cards are up to though. Could be a smokescreen to trade down and Kliff adapts his offense to fit a pocket passer.
