1. Thats assuming I actually care about level of competition. And even then, what I look for in a CB prospect is speed, size, tackling ability, toughness, fluidity, and good ball skills. Rogers-Cromartie lacks great tackling ability, but has the frame and hopefully the makeup that can change that. If the Jets don't think he has the mentality needed to bulk up and be more aggressive in his tackling, then they don't take him. 2. Well wouldn't the teams have more info on you about all that stuff? They are the deciders in the end. 3. While it's nice to think that top level talent only becomes obvious when playing top level competition, if a top level talent is playing not-so-top talent does that actually take away what really can't be taken away?
He was listed as a 1-AA in a couple of places. My bad. You are now batting .079 for the season. BTW, you dig your own holes, its just funny to watch you fall in.
The truth is most only want a corner if we trade down a couple of spots. Any way you look at it,5 DB's are likely to go in the first round. DRC will be one of the first 3. In the top of the second round, 2 more should go to St. Louis and Atlanta before we pick(Miami needs 1 too), that means by the 2nd round it is a much bigger gamble than most years if that is what we need. There will be a much better hybrid LB or 3-4 DE at the #2 pick than a CB. You have to read the draft and predict what will be available. I like McElvin as well and wouldn't be disappointed if he is our guy,I have agreed he is probably more game ready. I trust Mangini to make the call and if DRC is it, you'll know why. No matter how it shakes out our biggest need today is a corner(shhh.the most prolific O in NFL history is in our division)
You were the one that was wrong...not me. You can't turn the tables. You can't compare the two in terms of talent/ability because they play completely different positions.
In our D, they would both be playing OLB (weakside) so it wouldn't be smart to not compare them. Similiar in stats, size, competition they faced and the only thing Gholston really outpaced him was in bench press(Gholston is also a superior bull rusher, but I think Harvey is younger).
For some reason, I thought you were comparing Gholston and Rodgers-Cromartie. Gholston is the better prospect when it comes to him vs. Harvey.
I agree. But a case could be made that in the 3-4, Harvey is closer in ability than it first appeared. He has played standing up more than VG and supposedly looked terrific in the LB drills. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats take him. Belicheck and Meyer are friends, so he would know plenty about him. Gholston is the best bull rusher in the draft, but as a speed edge rusher, they are close. I think the Pats might be in worse shape at LB than CB. Colvin is gone, Junior is 38 and burned out in the SB(he sweated like someone had a gun to his head), Tedy is 35 and Vrabel is no spring chicken.I know the Pats don't like using high picks at LB, but if they could have gotten to Eli, they win the SB.They were rushing 7 in the end of the game and only got close on the helmet catch play.
