I don't know that it was racism? Its not like he is going around NY punching people or preaching sermons on race. He plays football, not teach school.

The guy has an opinion. I can handle other people having different opinions than myself and certainly would not "cancel" them for feeling different than me. Cancelling is political.

His attitudes towards the team are the only thing that affect me, and even that is only in a fan/professional way. The dude could want to nuke the whales and I wouldn't care as long as he was a good team mate and producing.

Professional athletics gives him a bully pulpit and exposure that he would never have as a private citizen.

That's why it is important to make him moderate his public expressions in that forum.

He can't say "ok, I'm just making this statement as a private citizen and not a famous athlete" because the fact that he is a famous athlete gives him the exposure to make the statement widely available in the first place.

Cancel Culture is about taking inappropriate actions and communications and nullifying them - which is the only thing you can do after a bell is rung that can not otherwise be un-rung.

Just take a look at House of Cards post-Kevin Spacey. That's how Cancel Culture works.

Who did he bully? Show me one person that was harmed? Who decided it was inappropriate? The ministry of truth?

The ultimate bullying? The ultimate discrimination - is cancelling. The total destruction of the person for holding an unpopular point of view.

This world needs less judgement and more forgiveness. Cancelling is the complete opposite of that, and will create a rotten totalitarian society.

If professional athletes have a bully pulpit, it's only because we give it to them. The same with other celebrities, such as musicians and actors.

Why should be give a rat's ass what a celebrity thinks about politics or current events? They're where they are because they can play ball, sing or act, not because they're deep thinkers. Their viewpoint is worth no more than yours, mine or anyone else's.

I'm a fairly observant jew who deviates from orthodox due to my own weaknesses. So I actually consider myself an orthodox jew who fails to follow the rules fully.

I say this so I can comment on the Ye thing.

The whole Black Israel thing as Irving believes is crazy talk--there is a black line from Ethiopia fathered by King Solomon. I know other Black guys who were friends who got caught up in this line of thought--they associate jews (or Israel) with Babylon of the New Testament which is a whore and bad and destructive blah blah. They literally see jews as evil so I don't know if you can call it racism or devil worship.

However Jews being over-represented in entertainment and media is empirically accurate so its not bs to say it. What is BS is the idea that Jews are a single clan that works together. I detest most news media and don't give a shit if they are jewish because they don't support Israel, or any of the Torah laws so they can go fuck themselves. I hate being lumped in with these manipulative assholes.

Dude. You defending cancel culture is fucking retarded.

    And completely unsurprising.

I don't know what to think of him posting "100%" on some idiot tweet. But to cancel someone for tweeting 100% to a tweet that actually didn't even reference the thing that Irving did to get in trouble? That's definitely triggered.

I was talking about Irving. I have no problem with the Nets and the fans reactions to that clusterfuck.

Same for Spacey and House of Cards. Not that Spacey isn't one of the most talented actors out there but some things nullify that.
