Just read the article about LT wishing he could have given signed stuff in person to the boy but the family declined the Jets invite. It also says in that article that they have refused to ever give their last name. My daughter brought up a good point... "Maybe they are WANTED!" ....or maybe illegal? It would explain a lot.
That is how Browns fans are. I am a lifelong Jets fan that lives in NE Ohio. I learned at the age of 13 not to wear Jets stuff at a Browns game. When I begged my dad to take me to a Jets/Brown game at the old Municiple Stadium...one of the first plays of the game Mark Gastineau knocked down a Brian Sipe pass and started doing his dance...I was sitting in the lower level on the end wearing my Richard Todd Jersey and a Jets stocking hat...I jumped up and was doing the same dance. After the fans stopped booing Gastineau they started booing me and started throwing beer bottles at me from the upper level. I have never worn my Jets stuff at a Brown's game since. It's not right but that is how Browns fans are.
This was a disgusting display by a fan base that as its been said are miserable to opposing teams fans. We all get a bad rap here in NY, but I have gone to a to so many games in NY and have never seen anything close to this. Sure I have seen idiot Cowboy fans or Eagles fans get harassed/ass kicking etc for reasons probably deserved, but I have also seen very nice acts of kindness to opposing teams fans. Case in point, 2003 I was at Giants @ Jets game and to say it was weird watching a visiting game in Giants stadium is an understatement. My friend was home on leave from the Marines and they had a halftime tribute to the Marines on the field. He came dressed in his uniform, but did have a Giants cap on. When he walked down the aisle to his seat there was not one Jet fan(or Giant fan for that matter) that did not shake his hand, clap or just simply give a nod of thanks. Yes we all love our teams and enjoy the games, but its just that a game. Cleveland should be ashamed of this and I hope that young boy is not scarred by this. I can tell you this much, someone ever did that to my kid I also would be making national news, probably for killing the person.
You can say what you want about some of our craziest, overzealous citizens. But in Cleveland, nobody has to get a robo-call to be loud. Or attack children or helpless referees.
That whole "moving the team to Baltimore" thing threw us off track from our regular anti-clutch playoff loss streak.
Congratulations. You've now descended below Philadelphia on the Asshole Sports Fans ladder. And we took shit over Chicks showing their Tits at Gate D... Cleveland is now so F*d up, that it's become......Cleveland.
