Did I say that he drafted them? I posted that in response to the numerous claims that he never developed any young talent and that he was feeding off of Parcells' guys. Do you really think taht Bill Parcells being in the Jets front office when Pennington was drafted made him a better player? That's just unbelievable. You need to stop focusing so much on little one liners and smileys and do some thinking. I'm actually confused as to what aspect of your point I'm not addressing. Care to fill me in?
I don't care if JP Losman and Brett Favre get married in San Francisco, there is no legitimate reason to use the word "ROFLMAO!!!!!!!"
But...roflmao! I am a strange soul with odd pet peeves and words like roflmao happen to be one of the top offenders on my list.
That he is an unscrupulous and disloyal scumbag and deserves whatever failure comes his way. I'm not questioning the success he had... I enjoyed those PO games just like any other fan, although the outcomes weren't as I would have hoped. But he is too stubborn to make it all the way. An inflexible personality will not win a Super Bowl. Even Parcells changed his strategies to become successful. I think Herm is incapable. Now, see if you can respond without mentioning how many years he took us to the Playoffs.
I am soooooo tempted to add a link to this thread at the Chief's message board I lurk at.... but I'd probably get banned. It's like waiting at a street corner, knowing there is going to be a terrible car wreck...... and knowing I'm at a safe distance.
First I am not a Chiefs fan but to only say Larry Johnson will only rush for a 1,000 yards is a bit of an understatement..Hackett was the guy running that offense when Curtis was going off.Our style of Offense then made people go to sleep but was effective and I believe helped Chad (when we had Chrebet and Moss speed route runners) opening up the field. Martin is not the same size and back as Johnson. Johnson is a beast who has the speed of a hb but size of a fb. Johnson has said over and over he wants 30 plus carries a game and if Herm does that he will get close to over 2,000 yards. To say they ran Martin into the ground makes no sense the guy won the rushing title 2 years ago and last year we were plagued with injuries. It doesn't help when the Defense is expecting the run cause you have a backup qb then Bolly coming into to play. The Jets had the tools last year to win we just got fed with injuries plain and simple...
My response is simple; it is the same point that I am making over and over again that you seem incapable of responding to. I don't care how much you dislike Herm, but the amount of criticism he gets on this site is unfair given the fact that much of it is just plain wrong (his inability to develop young talent, for example) and it is time to move on. People continue to harp on Herm Edwards because they are afraid to talk about our new coach given his total lack of a track record.
Well it's a good thing your opinion on this doesn't really matter to me, and that I am going to bash Herm every chance I get, whether you like it or not. I guess you might want to try out that ignore function. Because you are completely incapable of relating to my point.
I could say the exact same thing about you, seeing as how you have managed to ignore or deflect every single thing that I have said. Do I feel the need to ignore you? No. I find that pointing out obvious flaws in your logic (and the logic of this rampant Herm bashing in general) gives me a much more inflated falsely inflated ego.
I agree getting obsessed over a guy that left us is sad, so because of the little news Mangini gives us we now have to have a 4 pg thread about Herm?? Fellow Jet fans needs to let this go, and the sooner this happens the happier everyone will be, now I am going back to the BS forum since there is probably bigger news there than here
Yes, entirely false. But whatever. Keep being his shill, for all I care. BTW, I did not need to address your point about his successes, because I did not dispute it. Maybe you'll get that about debating someday.
I have been around just posting more in the BS about CBB. I don't give HIM all the credit but Herm and his staff had a hand in developing all the players I mentioned and more.
ROTFLMAO.... Yeah sure that's it - People criticize Herm cuz they're afraid to talk about Mangini ROTFLMAO!!!
Pennington - Took two years to become a starter and under Herm that only happened because of injury and suckiness of Vinny. After five years, Vinny was still the starter and Penningtons skills have been reduced every year under herm. So not an accomplishment Ellis - Had a good rookie year, Herm came in, moved him to DT and ruined him for two years. He has improved marginally since his rookie year. Abraham - Another player who has not improved much since his rookie year. Since Herm came on board he has devoloped a drinking problem and lack of team spirit. It could also be argued that Herm is the reason Abe became so disinfranchised with the organization. See coles Coles - Coles did have his best year under Herm and looked like he had a ton of potential. Then it hits him, the guy who promised he would look after him and resign him when the time was right, let him down. He then went off to Redskin land and was never the same. When you talk about Coles you have to also talk about Moss. The two will always be linked. Moss drafted under Herm, took three years to turn into a receiver. But at no time was he a #1 quality receiver for the jets. It then occurred to Herm that he needs to trade back for the player he lost. Moss then goes on to be one of the top receivers in the league. How is this good player development.
Actually, there's not much talk about Mangini because there simply isn't much to talk about. The FO is being so tight lipped, leaves us fans kind of short on material. Whereas on the other hand Herm is always good for a quotable, and while I am personally done talking about him, he definitely provides enough fuel for those who can't get him out of their system.
he hadnled Chad PERFECTLY. Chad was hurt most of '00 and when he took over in '01 Chad was on his 3rd system in 3 years. the onyl argument to play Chad sooner would have ben to start the '02 season but vinny did just lead us to 10 wins the year before and we were so beat up early had he started Chad he likely wouldn't have had the success he had. He and the staff brought Chad along PERFECTLY. Ellis had a good rookie year but he wasn't a very good player year. They made a mistake trying to make him a tackle but they were despertae w/ Ferg out and ellis recovered to become a big time DE under them. Abe hasn't improved much since his rookie year?: As a rookie he came in on 3rd downs and rushed the passer as a LB. They turned him into an every down DE and one of the bst in the game, the only problem was Abe's health which wasn't their fault. Coles took major strides under herm's staff and became a legit #1. it took Moss 3 years b/c he missed 95% of his 1st yr w/ injuries and then was banged up but played in his 2nd yr but was behind better players at the time. In his 1st year starting in '03 he took off and that was his healthiest year until this past year.
