Sure then I'm all for this signing. As long as Rex says keep your mouth shut whether you think I'm doing a good job or not.
If that's the case, why not? I agree, I think he's running on fumes but it can't hurt can it? hopefully he's a mentor you brings some "juice" with his name if nothing else (although I feel his success came from his athleticism more than studious technique)
difference is it would be low risk and we need all the help we can get. nobody is claiming we should back up the brinks truck to get him.
Definitely put in a waiver claim. Just for experience and leadership plus needed depth. I think he can help develop the younger safeties not impede their progress. If Reed could give the Jets just one big, game changing play he'd be worth it for this season only.
It is tough to join a new team Week 11 of an NFL season. His best chance to succeed would be a return to Baltimore or a return to a familiar system with Rex. The other 29 teams would not make sense.
He will fall through waivers. No one paying that salary. From what I read his play has fallen off a cliff. With that said, I don't want him signing with the pats. I doubt he would sign with the jets.at 35 this is probably his last season. He will look to sign with a contender.
We definitely could use a good cover guy like Reed, probably would fit us great. Despite not being as good as he once was he still has the cover skills that we are currently lacking. I'm all for it, Reed has been one of my favorite non jet players for a while now.
I think Reed could join up with us without to much trouble. Most importantly, I don't think he is a great player by himself anymore, but if he can help all of our DB's with some backfield calls by reading the offense while he is out there. It's not really about athleticism with our safeties, as we primarily run two strong safeties anyway and Reed can still hit plenty hard. I know he is traditionally a free safety but I think he could be a great pick up to teach our young guys some stuff, he could pair with Antonio Allen on downs that require more coverage, and Dawan Landry on run stopping plays. He may not have the athleticism to cover TE's like he used to but Allen can be primarily responsible for that, and I'd love to have him in the back of our D to jump some routes or help out with any free running WR's that burn Cro or Dee on a double move.
This is going to be a GM and Rex call, But if he is coming on the cheap it would be fun to see him play with us against the Ravens.
The good thing is that we can play the Bills without him, and activate him for the Ravens game next week once they have time to bring him into the game plan.
