Looking at that highlight video, im a bit less pissed off. He's got the speed of a WR, and he is good in the open field.
And talk about red zone threat.

Why is it an horrible comparison? Olsen was faster than Keller in the Combine, he had some production. Olsen's presence in the Bears offense wasn't much to brag about. Having your starting TE that can't block isn't a good sign at all

I wouldn't say same production... his catches were way down his last year at the U, and he still suffers from being on a team with quarterback woes and lack of a recieving corps all together...

Comparison might actually be a fair... not physically since Olson is much bigger, but pass catching ability, but the Bears offense believe it or not has been more stagnant than ours

Everyone is bitching about us not getting the TE involved enough, so they go out and get a TE that looks like a beast of an offensive threat, and people are bitching. This guy is no Doug Jolly, or Stone Hands Brady, Anthony Deflecht.....this dude can rumble. Werd

Kyle Brady, Anthony Becht, Johnny Mitchell....WTF, Tangini.

Same old friggin Jets. The Jets don't understand what the draft is about. We will never be a Super Bowl contender.

This is our slot receiver. Watch the colts and how they move dallas clark around. These guys have similar size and speed.

Didn't like the pick initially, but the more I read about him, the more I like.

All the people saying "Why didn't we draft a receiver"

well, we did, this guy just happens to have TE next to his name and not WR. He may be the best pure receiver to be had. And we got him!

Okay, if he's a great TE, fine with taking him. But why trade up to get him??

We had the 6th pick in round 2. Who was going to take him ahead of us?

There ya go. It's obvious we're looking for things to beat the pats. And this will get those big old LBs of theres moving and causing all kinds of matchup problems as we spread the field down the seams.

They are completely different players. You just named a random, young tight end, and compared their 40 times.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie ran the a 4.37, and Vernon Davis ran a 4.38 - They must be similar players.

Greg Olsen plays on a horrible Bears offense, that likes to RUN the football. He was brought in because he had great size and receiving ability. His production dropped off at Miami during his last year there.

Dustin Keller's production never dropped off, and he's not being brought to New York to be an all-around tight end. He's supposed to catch passes, and help this offense move the chains. Purdue runs a pro-style offense, so Keller should be able to come in a contribute RIGHT AWAY.

I don't see how so many people can complain about these draft picks when these players haven't even put on a Jets' uniform. It's ridiculous.

Yeah I know, that's the part that bugs me too. I just chalk it up to the assumption that the Jets FO wouldn't have done so if they didn't think they absolutely had to for whatever reason.

The team that recently drafted Mangold, Washington, Harris and Revis...doesn't know what the draft is all about?

Hate this pick/trade by the FO. This is nothing more than Shockey without the 'tude. When we have so many other glaring holes on this team why would they trade up (thus giving up other draft picks) to get a TE who can't even block? Tangini must have a whole lotta faith in their new OL if they can waste picks on a glamor TE.
