Maybe that backup tight end can actually block in which case thats something of an improvement from last season. Then again we pissed away a 1st rounder on a tight end who could do nothing but block a few years ago

of course there's nothing to complain about, its very clear that a lot of you simply don't care who's picked, you'll think its a good pick regardless. God bless.

We do have a FB-- we REACHED and drafted him in the third round a few years ago. Just like this draft-- total reach picks, and passing on great players who fell. How about Jon Scott, Rod Wright, Dee Web-- players who had GREAT college careers! there are all americans still on the board, and we are drafting guys who were backup tight ends in college.

Give me a break, 8 posts and your screenname says it all. It is the 6th round. Go crawl back underneath the rock you came from.

nothing like depending on the exception to exemplify a weak argument.

the fact that people keep blasting these late round picks when these are guys probably none of us have ever seen play is just funny.

The point of a site like this is to talk about what you like and dislike, so F U man- seriously don't get personal with this stuff. I know enough about NFL and college FB to have an opinion on the draft, and I am going to voice it. I ma not going to just assume that whatever the FO does is good for the team. Challenging a move is part of being a fan-- coming onto a site, and making rude comments is not-- especially when you really haven't made a point towards football. If you think these guys are good picks, and can tell someone who doesn;t think so why you think that, than go right ahead. Otherwise, if someone challenges it, don't just tell them to "stop Complaining" thats BS. Make someone stop by adding to the argument.

OK, well I actually just opened this one up, I have another screen name...

Not to mention, the number of ganggreen.com posts meens nothing about your knowledge of football.

You want to debate the picks with me? You want to tell me why the Backup TE from Wisc is a good pick? Go right ahead.

It's a good pick because he's an excellent blocker, which is something the Jets need. Askew is not your typical blocking fullback and none of the TE's we have on the roster are great run blockers.

2 screen names? You changed why? And you chose that particular name why? So you can complain and troll in anonymity? If you don't like the draft, have the balls to say so with the screenname you have been using. Don't be a punk and change your screenname so no one knows who you are. 8 posts + a screenname of "hateourdraft" (which you admit you just opened) = troll. I don't debate with trolls.

Actually I believe Baker and Dressen are pretty good blockers. The fact that he's an excellent blocker too me isn't enough of a reason to say it's a good pick. Questions for me are a) what is their plan for him? (seems like converting him to FB which is fine by me), and b) did they really need to take him there or could they have gotten him later?

The beauty of the draft though is that someone you can call a reach now can prove to be a steal once they get on the field. Unfortunately the reverse is true too.

I understand the sentimentality of getting value, but if it's a guy they really like in the end it won't matter where they were taken. Tom Brady in the 3rd round would've been a reach, Curtis Martin in the top 15 would've been a reach. But you can bet there are teams all over the place wishing they reached for those guys.

Using what ESPN says to characterize the picks as reaches is ridiculous. Just an example of how off ESPN is on their predictions is Omar Jacobs. ESPN's comments say that there is no way he will last beyond the end of the second round.

    When was he drafted?

    Late fifth!

You would hope the Jets know more than the guys at ESPN or us. Only time will tell.

John Murphy on Jets sixth round pick- Coleman

    By: John Murphy

    Date: Apr 30, 2006

John Murphy on TCU corner Drew Coleman:

"He is a diminutive cover corner at 5-9, 173 pounds. He ran 4.4's at his Pro Day, but was not great in the agility drills or vertical. He had four interceptions and eight pass breakups as a senior. He was also used sparingly on special teams as a return man. He has had some prior issues with knee injuries. Jet special teams coach/assistant head coach Mike Westhoff coached at TCU much earlier in his career. This kid would have to standout on special teams in order to have a chance."

This guy would have been a good FA signing and we waiste a pick. This draft is full of reaches. For the new FO first draft it looks pretty bad.
