Moss was playing hurt most of the year and put up about the same #s he did the year before(more yards, less TDs) and let's not forget Moss made Randall Cunningham an NFL MVP.
Are you factoring who they had before this? and I wouldn't be surprised if Culpepper restructures for Miami, he was willing to do it for Minny
It's true it really is. Daunte is a choker. You just have to look at his performances late in games, the crucial turnovers he makes at the worst possible times, and his teams lack of success. Especially when you consider how stacked some of those teams were on offense, especially when you consider how weak the division and conference was at the time. I know for myself I'm alot happier that Drew Brees is shipping off to N.O.
Sure they'll put up some grat #s but when it comes down to it they won't be winning big games and Daunte is damaged goods who is not even supposed to be ready for the beginning of this season.
Moss is a one dimensional WR who is only great if someone throws it deep for him, and you forgot that they choked that year also
And yet in the games against us that aren't big, he is a thorn on our sides, and you forget who the coach was in Minny, Saban is much better than Tice
This is a bad move for us, good move for the Fins. They've redeemed themselves for the AJ Feely trade, which was complete garbage. This is a better trade than a 2 for McCareins....
They lost to a 14-2 team in 1998 it wasn't like losing to the Cardinals or Redskins and the O still put up 27 points not 17 or 10(in the competitive portion of the Wash game). Tice wasn't the coach when Daunte had Carter, Moss & Robert Smith had had a 13 rating against a mediocre Giants D in '00.
It's obvious the dolphins have been headed in the right direction since last offseason but this takes them a step or 2 back. The goal is not to beat the Jets it's to go deep in january-Feb and Daunte is not doing that. They were going to be tough to beat either way w/ the skill positions guys they have on that team but Daunte is just a #s guy, he's not a winner AND he's damaged goods.
Atlanta was 14-2, I don't care how big of favorites they were it's not half as bad as losing at Arizona in '03 and at Wash in '04 and once again the O did their job in '98 scoring 27 points. Daunte led Minny to 17 a Ari when Ari had given up 33/gm the last 8 games and 10 at Wash in the competitive portion of the game(they scored a TD w/ 2 secs left).
Like the poster above me mentioned he won't be playing us in the playoffs, also that was in his 2nd year in the league, what QBs do well in the playoffs that early in their careers?
This is where junc loses his credibility. Peyton Manning is the biggest choker in the league, you can set your clock by his annual postseason swoon, but you can't tell me that you'd hate to play him twice a year in the regular season. Trying to pretend that Gus Ferrotte or Sage Rosenfels to Daunte Culpepper isn't a MAMMOTH upgrade at the QB position and bad news for the Jets is absolutely ridiculous.
Pep is not a top 3 QB like he once was with Moss. We all know this. But he is bouncing back from his knee and he's got good WRs and an actual run game in Miami. Something he didn't have. Pep IS in a position to bounce back. Granted, he is currently not as fierce as he once was, but he can get back there once again. It's up to him.
The trade for Pep is for a 2007 2nd round pick not 2006 Vikings spokesman Tom West confirmed the deal, but did not give specifics. Several media reports say Minnesota received a 2007 second-round pick in return.
