Good pickup by the Phins, considering it was only a second day pick. I think Green has 2 good years left tops, but by that point Beck better be ready for them (he'll be 28 by then since he came into the draft at 25 and turns 26 in August). I can't really bash this.
Exactly. Read this article. Perloff slams the Fins and actually gives some praise to the other three teams in the division including us http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/18726
Classy. So lets look at everyone else for Greens success. Of course. Granted his OL has taken a deep fall but he's got some of the best vision out there. He can extend the field with Chambers (if he can catch the damn ball) and Booker is not a bad WR either. Hopefully he'll do enough so that opponents won't stack the box and they'll be able to get Brown started. EDIT: No Randy after all.
Since 1998 the Fins have won 4 and lost 14 to the Jets. Marino may have been a Jet killer, Vinny was our Fish Squisher
REALLY? Clearly I missed this developement. Boy that sucks for the fish. All the same it doesn't change the fact that their QB situation has improved. For one thing they have a Starter now.
Eh, it's hard to argue that this wasn't an upgrade at the position but I'm not expecting much to be honest. Hopefully he understands his role and that his time here will be shortlived. I'd really like to hear that he's helping to groom Beck during his stay, but he's on his last couple paychecks and I find it hard to believe that he helps the youngbuck take his job. I'm sick and tired of giving up draftpicks for solutions and stopgaps just to watch em blow up in our face every damn season. We may very well compete in this division if Green can maintain even a 75 Rating, but we're no where near shocking the world next season.
I've got good (read:bad) feelings about Green. I think he can be an above starter for the fish IF their line keeps him upright. Otherwise, he's just meat to the wolves. Funny thing is, Huard was a Miami castoff, and he excelled in KC, so an argument could be made for the system over the QB. And is anyone else as surprised as I am that Werm actually tossed out a veteran in favor of youth? Seems like you can teach an old dog new trix.
Trent is a good pickup for the Phins, but sadly they still have some work in other areas and I am not convinced they have a great coaching staff yet. We will have to wait and see. I think it will be at least another year before they start to become a problem for anyone other than Buffalo.
He's averaged 87.5 rating through out his career. And before his horrible head knock he was on of the smarter passers in the league, usually averages in the 90s.
I'm well aware of Green's success in KC, but believe it or not Vermeil went on record saying that the entire offense - playbook to personell were built around his strengths. That doesn't make him any lesser a QB, but that luxury won't exist in Miami and neither will that O-Line. I don't expect that concussion to effect his game any more than his age, or the fact that he'll constantly be pressured. Of course I'm optimistic, I always am. He's familiar with the system, and he's passing to a better set of WR's, but he won't have the same success here that he had in KC. I think a mid to high 70s rating is being fair, all things considered.
I for one am very happy Miami got Green. They are going to let Culpepper walk without even challenging Trent for the starting position. Pegging all of their hopes on a 37 year old average quarterback that had mild success in an offensive with a badass running game and a monster offensive line is moronic. Enjoy 50 sacks Dolphins fans, you deserve em....
