Usually alone but yesterday I went to Fridays with some buddies and got wasted...I started a J-E-T-S chant after we recovered that Coles fumble....some dickwad said we were gonna lose and gave me a thumbs down I told him to fuck off and pestered him after we scored to tie the game and he left...prick
I prefer having a few people to watch with.. as long as they're paying attention to the game, it's all good. I hate listening to the announcers anyway, so the louder the better.
I watch it with my dad and sometimes some other family members hang around but I tell them all to shut up and not talk. I make sure people that don't know about football either aren't talking or not near me.
Good thread. When I'm home in New York I watch with the same family most games, been doing it for as long as I can remember watching football. When I'm here in the UK I watch games by myself because I want to focus and not deal with questions. So I'm moving to Singapore later this week and it's my last weekend in town. This girl I've been seeing for a few months "has always wanted to watch a football game and understand what it is all about". So she basically tried to invite herself over my crib for the Jets game and I had to tell her no. I knew that if she came over we wouldn't have watched the game and she really just wanted to get down... tough choice but I had to choose the Jets. I haven't heard from her since that phone call and she isn't answering my calls. I think it's over but honestly it was well worth it. I will continue to watch the Jets by myself, and I'm okay with that.
Before moving down here, I was like all of you. Focusing on the game in some room, isolated from everyone else. However, I have gotten my Guatemalan roommates into football, so we have been watching the games together. Frequently, I am explaining things to them and answering their questions. It's great to share this huge part of American culture with them and now there are members of Jets nation in Guatemala. It also helps that our Quarterback is Latino.
You're probably right but week one of the playoffs is not the time to start breaking people in to the game. I offered to watch today's games with her but never heard anything from her. Oh well...
Luckily, me and my dad are pretty much the same (watch every play, little talking), so I usually watch them with him if he's around.
I usually watch alone, mostly because no one else in the house is interested in football, my dad is an immigrant and only likes soccer, but he'll watch sports with me just to spend time, he asks questions which is annoying, but not so many, he tries to figure out himself, but yesterday was probably the last time, he got annoyed with me freeaking out and screaming on the top of of my lungs, he didn't get it because we were winnng but I was like dad it's the fuckjng Jets!! My little group of football buddies aren't so into football as I am, but they enjoy to sit and watch the game, so it never really gets annoying.
I used to watch the game with my dad who was a Titans/Jets fan since 1960 at the polo grounds or I would be on the phone with him during games etc. He passed away last year unfortunately so I now I watch games alone except he's always with me. He definately was with me yesterday. I don't mind watching a game in a good sports bar once in awhile with friends and other fans but I really prefer to watch in the comfort of my own home without distractions.
Never in big groups. Either by myself or with my dad and a friend or two. Can't stand watching it with people who aren't paying attention
