The Peyton option disappeared when we signed Sparano. We don't need to spend 20% of our cap on an elite QB who will be handing off and managing the clock for the majority of our ground n' pound plays.

What happened to the "I like beer" option?

Actually, the Peyton option disappeared when we hired Rex Ryan.

If you've ever listened to any interview with Peyton, Eli, or Archie, it is clear that the Manning family hates Rex Ryan with a passion.

Peyton would retire before he would ever willingly come to the Jets.

Enough of the nonsense. Mark Sanchez is our QB for two more years.

No chance hes going to the 49ers imo, again Alex Smith played good enough to be in the Super Bowl. It wasnt his fault he wasnt, it was the punt returners fault. I dont think Harbaugh would bounce Smith to take Peyton which is a risk.

    I could be wrong tho.

    @bkravitz
Bob Kravitz Jim Irsay not happy about Peyton's comments, not in the least: "Keep it in house.'' Further details to come in the Star.

Now they are mad at each other, just dont go to the Dolphins Peyton!!!

+1. I have a feeling this is going to be one hell of a bounceback year not only for Sanchez but for the entire Franchise.

anybody who thinks the answer is a 37 yr old QB w/a broken neck is nuts. With our OL Peyton would be a cripple after wk 1. The immediate priority is fixing the OL.

I wouldn't. He gets a big sack from Maybin or a future PR'er we might get (should get) and his career is over. :manning:

I'll be the first to say that Sanchez looked like he was completely lost a good chunk of this year. Now we are finding out that he was out of it for good reason. The kid comes out a little fluffy in the head and walks into a situation where the coach is acting like a co-worker rather than the boss. The crummy OC wants to run stuff the kid has no business running and QB coach who seems to be completely ineffective. He's started day one with no real direction on the field and made the best of it. A great example of this is how he holds the ball when he takes off running with the ball out there in space to be dropped/stripped/fumbled. He's been doing that since day one and nobody has gotten it in check. In short I'd like to see what happens with the guy now that (personality wise) we have somebody at OC that hopefully will hopefully work with Sanchez. Now if we could only get rid of that non existant QB coach and replace him with somebody real. In short we need to give Sanchez at least this year to see if his mental farts can be overcome with competent coaching.

All of that said in an ideal situation I'd be all for Peyton comming here. If he was willing to come here for something that worked for us rather than against us AND we could keep Sanchez to learn from the master. We have holes all over the place and not much wiggle room. Say we sign him for a year at 7-10 mil(non garunteed/incentives/whatever lets us get a few other parts) and Sanchez goes to the bench. Manning could then prove himself ready for action and another big payday in 2013 and if we won the SB he could add a big notch to his already considerable belt. On the flip side Manning might be the best QB coach Sanchez could hope for and he could possibly help Sanchez become the SANCHIZE. It would also work out nicely for Sparano since it seems like he's not great with passing and Peyton calls his own plays. Maybe he might be able to teach not just Sanchez but Tony and Rex a little something something ta boot.

Peyton at 50% would be better than most of the leagues 100% but we aren't talking about a normal 50% here. We're talking about an injury that could not only end the season for us instantly if we dumped our eggs all in that basket but could maybe lower his QoL if broke badly. Peyton isn't the most mobile of QB's and our line isn't exactly going to be much help in keeping him upright. We all want Peyton standing there dissecting the other team and not running for his ever loving life every drive. I'd like to see Peyton here but only if it makes sense for the future of our Jets. We absolutely cannot fry all of our FA money on him, nor can we just pack up our picks and marketable trade pieces for him.

P.S sorry for rambling in only my 3rd post. This is the one that made me finally join:)

Yes if I trusted our front office not to throw away all of our draft picks and potential salary cap space for the next forever like my Knicks seem so damn fond of.

If Peyton goes to Miami that means they missed out on Matt Flynn who they can lock up long term and is healthy.

If Peyton wants to get a ring he would be fucking retarded to go to Miami where he directly has to compete against the Jets AND Brady all season.

While playing for a franchise who hasnt won a playoff game in like 30 years, and has all new mostly first time coaches.

Id say Peyton in Miami means he has his LEAST chance of going to the playoffs period of most of his choices

Not unless they hire an undertaker. You fish fans have been crying about your offensive line for quite a while, long before Sparano arrived.

He would get murdered in division games. Stick to signing second tier retreads, at least they don't cost a lot.

    Hindsight is Hindsight.

But there's no guarantee he would've DEVELOPED into the type of QB with the Jets that he did with New England.

No but theres a guarentee that the Pats wouldnt have him.

Which is really all that matters, eitherway well see how the afc east is pretttty soon when you dont have an entire team built around a late 100000% luck draft pick

It looks like we'd have to sign Manning through free agency. I wouldn't be thrilled about losing Sanchez but if we had to a trade with the Seahawks could benefit all parties involved

Why are you under the assumption that Carroll would even WANT Sanchez? It's like it's assumed by you that he would take him.....
