I never wanted Michael Vick near the Jets, but Geno Smith was so terrible last year, that I actually find Vick a better alternative. In many ways, that is sad.

Whether you are pro or anti Vick, there is clearly a subset of hardcore fans, casual fans, spouses, sponsors etc that will shun the team if he is brought on regardless of what he adds on the field. This is something that needs to be taken into account by management. Whether you think this should matter or not - it's reality. Woody isn't going to want to see picketing at the games, people dumping tickets etc. I don't think the fan reaction in Philly will be as harsh as it will be in NY/CT which are traditionally blue states.
