Vick's past criminal activity has a bearing on my opinion of his character, but I feel that I have to give him the benefit of the doubt when he says he is sorry for that and has become a changed man. In that regard, I treat him as I would anyone else. As far as being a Jet, I do not think he brings anything positive to the team. This is a separate issue from his dog fighting and gambling past. I would be fully supportive of bringing in a veteran QB who was head and shoulders better than anyone in camp and throwing him into the fray. I don't see Vick as that guy. I see him as the guy who will create a QB controversy simply by being there. If he plays and is not All-World, the consensus will be that Geno Smith should be starting and would be well on his way to the Hall of Fame. If he is on the bench, everything Geno does will be picked apart and the fans will be screaming to put in Vick and bench Geno. I don't think Geno Smith is the answer. I don't think Mike Vick is the answer. But I'd feel better with one of them on the squad than both of them. I would have preferred to see the Jets get behind one QB and sign a guy who is a career back-up and see what happens if there is no will to go after a franchise QB in the draft this year. If this experiment proves to be a failure, I can't see how the front office can not go after a QB next season.
If Geno is having a bad game like he had last year at least there is someone who can come in and Win the game, We did not have that last year. And if Geno can't handle that or the pressure is to much for him then he should not be the QB,, PERIOD. I think this is a good signing and huge upgrade of what we had last year. PLUS the circus thing is getting old please come up with something else.
Oh mann will you please give the brother a freakin' BREAK!!?? Vick's heinous & illegal actions vs canines were dead wrong. He was arrested, tried, found guilty & sentenced. Served his time, he exited as a new man admitting his grievous mistakes, contrite is now an advocate against animal cruelty. Vick PAID for his stupidity - in full - that same stupidity which has made him a better man today. You need not forget, but learn to forgive. HATE on Vick because he always gets hurt, too many turnovers, etc. but allow him the courtesy for serving his time.! I too am a dog luv'r & as a matter of fact my last name is that name of a Scottish sheep dog! Give Vick a chance he might add some value to the Jets. If not, screw it & lets move on. At least he's WAYYYY better than that Te-Blow-me character of a qb we had last year. Peace 2-Fingerz!
