If we think harvin is worth it and he is willing to tone back on his contract then who cares about the fourth. We'd have arguably the best group of wr in the NFL at that point.

Reports out that he's gone after the Marshall deal becomes official.

    Right move.

Still should wait until March 19th to do anything.

The way I see it is there is no reason not to keep him IF... We do not get someone like Revis, McCourty, Cobb, ect.. If we still have 20-40 mill in cap room why not keep him as a slot/return man? The 4th round pick sure.. But will that pick have more of an impact than he would? That's the decision breaker.

He's got to be gone--the only reason to keep him right now is maybe they could work out a trade to a team like the gayders. If you like him at 10MM, his contract is an easy one on management.

Well, now with Brandon Marshall on board, it's all but official, I would think, that Harvin is gone. It's just as well imo, he was overrated. Playmaking skills for sure, but somewhat injury-prone and not really a true #1 WR. More of a slot guy / gadget player. Marshall is a true #1, a big, sure-handed target who is consistent and reliable. He can physically outmuscle defenders for the ball. He is driven to succeed, and has been a good team player lately. He will make a big difference on offense. Harvin was a piece, but Marshall is the "centerpiece" of the offense, a guy who will consistently move the chains. There's really no comparison between the 2, and Marshall is much better.

I'd love to still keep Percy , we'd have a hell of an offense.

Would we still lose the 4th rounder if we cut and re-sign Harvin to a smaller contract?

Either way, Marshall is an upgrade. We can still draft another receiver too.

If we resign him before the draft, yes it is a fourth rounder still

I wanted the Jets to cut Harvin before the Marshall trade, so I think he should definitely be cut now.

i hear what your sayin.. would look great on paper.
but 3 high priced WR's and no QB is not the right way to construct a team imo.

    think Harvin's got to go.
wonder if we could trade him for a 5th? that would be straight pimp..

Cobb resigning made this more likely when we cut him , he will be the 2nd best available free agent behind Maclin. I definitely think we can get a sixth back ....maybe Oakland?

If we trade him, I wonder if it's only a 6th. Assuming someone wants him. The trade terms seems to be only a 4th if he's on our roster at 4pm on the 19th.

I'd still love to sign Harvin after cutting him, but I know it isn't realistic. He'll likely sign elsewhere for a bit more money.

Marshall-Decker-Harvin-Kerley-Amaro would be freaking amazing, and cure our skill players issues.

It would be a good thing to recoup that 4th rd pick.
How about adding Spiller now to that group, with Ivory and Powell

Jets would finally have an offense, one they haven't had in a long while, and Chan Gailey to guide them (if nothing else, he's a great offensive mind).

Maybe the Jets could convince Harvin to come back and tell them what an opportunity it would be, but it's sadly unlikely.

Word is we cut Harvin on Monday. I want Harvin gone, but I don't see why we are going to give him a head start on free agency. Not like he did us any favors by not offering to negotiate. Id like to let him sweat for a bit or at least trade him to whoever wants him.

Treating your players vindictively is a classless move that accomplishes nothing but generating ill-will from other players and agents.

I'd prefer our organization keep it classy.

If we were trying to trade him and needed more time that's another story...
