You've been happy with our kicking game the last three seasons?

What's wrong is Kellen Clemens should not be practicing kicking field goals on the sidelines when Nugent gets injured.

Totaly agreed. You have a skill position player doing a motion he is not too familiar with. What would have happened if Clemes tore his ACL practicing on the sidelines? The Jets should have shut that down right away.

As far as Nugent being a bust; I wouldn't go that far, but I do not think he was remotely worth a second round pick.

Allow me to clarify...Nugent being drafted in the second round makes him a bust for his draft position. If we got him in the 6th round, fine, but we didn't. As bust denotes draft value in relation to game ability, he's a bust.

He still can't consistently get touchbacks and he isn't money from under 40 yards. These are the things I expect from a 2nd round draft pick kicker. I've been saying it all offseason. We need a new kicker.

agreed, i wanted him out of here after that pre season 23 yard miss..........he lacks focus......the most important aspect of any kicker. That's to me is also why he hurt him self shanking the FG yesterday...that was his own error in how he planted......lack of focus

I've been calling for Nooge to lose his job ever since he first appeared in a Jets uniform. I'd link to all the old posts, but I don't particularly feel like it right now.

The guy is crap. At his prime health, he's inconsistent on FG trys. He's average to above average on PATs (big frigging deal, every kicker should be great at PATs), and he's terrible yes, terrible at KOs. He kicks off either high and short, or long and low.

He's a poor excuse for a football player, and him straining his vagina yesterday was the best thing to happen to the Jets since Coles returned to practice.

The hatred for Nugent is ridiculous, no he hasn't ever lived up to his lofty draft status, no kicker ever will live up to being drafted in the 2nd round. He has been a reliable kicker for us outside his annual first game misses though. He was hurt yesterday, injuries happen in football.

injuries should not happen to kickers unless they get run into or something.......to hurt yourself on a kickoff or FG try is just due, like I said earlier, to not being focused or prepared.

There's a reason Nooge is getting ripped. It's because his leg is like Chad's arm.

I'm sure Ill echo the sentiments of many other posters. Its great to see someone nail 50+ yarder's during pre-game drill's and then miss a chip shot during the game. Iv personally seen enough! WE are built to won now and we cant afford to watch a game winning field goal sail wide right.

The game would have been the SAME score. If Nugent had not missed the FG add 3 pts. Then Farve would NOT have had the chance to through a TD at 4th and 13. They would have settled for a FG. subtract 3 points. Still 6 points either way.
