You are dead wrong. When you spend all the money the Jets did in the off-season, made the trades for players, and drafted players to fill holes in their lineup...after all that, your kicking game is a liability. Today it could have cost the Jets a loss, it has cost them losses in the past, and this needs to be rectified immediately.

NYG K Tynes should be available, he can kick in the windy Meadowlands.

Right, so if Brady threw an pick on the play where his knee got fucked up, he should be replaced?

    Use your goddamn head

    Graham

I want to get rid of our punter by the time they land in Newark. He sucked last year, sucked in the pre-season and sucked today.

He was INJURED on the opening Kickoff, so what happened today has nothing to do with whether he is a competent kicker (and it is worth noting that he did NOT cost is the game!).

If he is hurt and can't kick obviously we will need a replacement, but if he is such a god awful kicker why wasn't HE part of the off-season changes? Do you think if there was someone out there SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER Tangini wouldn't have already replaced him?

If you think Tynes is a significant improvement over Nugent, please provide a comparitive statistical analysis of their respective careers as evidence to support the change.

Too many of you want perfection in a kicker, or he sucks. It just doesn't work that way,

Competition never hurts man... Definetly adds incentive to play at your highest level... Or lose your job.

You're absurd. I never said Tynes was better, but rather, he is a kicker that is accustomed to kicking in the meadowlands wind. Because as every analyst says its difficult to the unfamiliar. Career wise, he's had a longer one so I'm sure his numbers are better than Nugent's.

Nugent had a decent year last year. However whether or not the guy is automatic from now until he retires, one would think there should be a back up kicker. One who can kick a fucking field goal or extra point in case Nugent does get injured again.

Seeing Clemens attempting practice kicks made me throw up in my mouth a little.

now that westhoff is back, he should make the decision. if he says nugent is hurt, bring in another guy for however many weeks it is necessary.

if the new guy does so well that nugent loses his spot on the roster this year ( IR) , then that's football.

Nugent has become a liability. I know he was a 2nd round draft pick but it is time we part ways with the Nuge and pick up a vet who has playoff experience and is reliable.

Don't forget Justin Stone-head Miller, whose job is returning kicks and not covering WRs.

Statistically, Pennington has the highest completion ratio.

*Stats mean squat - you can always distort it any way you want.*

    1. I would like to see a kicker who can nail the KO into the endzone on a regular basis.
    2. I'd like to see a kicker who is NOT inconsistent.

Nugent fails on both accounts rather miserably.

Healthy Nugent is always inconsistent, they had better bring in some Kickers to audition this week.

What was wrong with him today? He averaged 45.3 on 6 punts with a long of 56.

I agree they both sucked, Graham shanked 2 punts at the end of the game, one was partially blocked also....yuck! I couldn't believe we almost lost because of the 2 of them....

Nobody is saying that Nugent can't kick a field goal. Statistically he does well. But statistics dont show when the game is on the line. Sooner or later Nugent is gonna be asked to win us a game No time left from the 30. Are you tellin me you dont have second thoughts. I will admit I didnt know he was injured when he attempted his first field goal. So I willhave to give him a pass on that one. Unfortunately for him it comes after that blown 23 yarder in Washington. Yes it was only pre-season...but 23 yards. C'mon
