They beat us, they get to play Baltimore or Pitt.

They lose, they get to play the Jets again.

Would you rather play a team that knows how to win in the final minutes, or a team that doesn't know how to close out games?

That's a fairly silly way of putting it, but I certainly agree that the Bengals would prefer to play the Jets.

I really can't see a great argumnet for why the Bengals would risk injury when a win is virtually meaningless. If the Colts blew a chance at history to protect their players I can only imagine the Bengals will do the same with FAR less on the line. Also, put yourself in the Bengals shoes...would you want the Jets to risk a freak injury to Revis in a meaningless game? No way. Rest the starters and gear up for the playoffs is the move.

You're right, I'll put it another way.

Would you rather play a team that has experience in the playoffs, defending Super Bowl champs, with an experienced HC and QB?

Or would you rather play a team with very little post-season experience, with a rookie HC and QB?

You'd also have to think that given the emotion of the last two weeks just taking some stress off the the guys would be a positive going into the playoffs.

    Think about it

    Chris Henry dies
Play asses off and lose heartbreaker to Chargers
    Funeral for Chris Henry
Win NFC North in hard game against KC

All that in a matter of 10 or so days.

The question is: Can the Jets beat the Cincy back-ups?

Last time the Bengals made the playoffs Palmer got injured early in the game. I don't think they can deal with that again I bet they sit players

Yeah, I was like what the fuck?! So sad to see these guys don't know what the hell they're talking about half the time. The other dude said that Denver had the tie-breaker over Baltimore, only to be corrected. NBC football is a joke, lol.

If we can't beat Cincy at full strenght I'd rather not make the fucking playoffs.

No doubt about it, but I will take it. Nice win vs. Baltimore today. You can take Miami next week and hope for a Jets/Ravens loss.

    So true man.

I don't think anybody is arguing that Painter is Manning or cares who the hell we beat. All we care about is we have a chance to make the playoffs with a win next week.

There is no question they will try to win. It's just a matter of whether they try to do it with the starters or backups.

Well all indications seem to indicate that is going to be a Sunday Night game so that would give the Bengals even less time to prepare for the playoffs. (BTW if you want to know how this conclusion was reached check out the Sunday Night Thread)
