I agree whole heartedly with this sentiment. I'm not too concerned with the weight issues. The guy is massive, and he will need to be massive in our system. Pouha is an OK rotation which Rogers is going to need one way or the other. Like Mack said, he fits our system better than Robertson. Further, from everything I've read about this guy, it seems like a change of scenery would do good for him. 7 years on the Lions isn't exactly great for your motivational health. I think getting out of there would help him regain himself.
JetFanMack certainly doesn't need me to defend him but: Shaun Rogers: 1) 6-4, 345 pounds= poundage 2) 2 pro bowl appearances= success 3) As far as aptitude, how hard is it to remember to drive the center into the QB while carrying two guys  I don't mean to be a wise ass but this would make plenty of sense. Then draft Gholsten. DT is an obvoius concern and big men are hard to find with a reputation for disruption. This is an opportunistic situation. Drob was well coached by Mangini and increased Drob's value. Kudos to the coaches. Now take that value and get something for it. Mr. Rodgers can only benefit the DL.
That trade involved the Broncos, so I think it sets a precedent for them being flexible in trades, plus Tannenbaum seems to makes friends in negotiations as evidenced by continued dealings with the Skins... It does sound like a longshot to be real but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility either.
I would assume he'd renegotiate before the deal became official. From looking on JI forums, it doesn't seem like there is any validity to this trade claim. I think we may be getting worked up over nothing.
Please dont deal a pick Denver, I am your GM in the mock draft........ Detroit take back PLAYERS or something, not draft picks. Cmon Millen, dont let me down!
We dump the misfit DRob and his contract, role the dice with a guy who could be a very good fit, and lose a 5th. If Rogers plays up to potential it could be an amazing move. There are "ifs" in every deal and especially the draft, but this one could pay huge dividends. I'm still not convinced that it's happening though.
the only way this would happen is if shannahan wanted drob that much more over rogers...and i dont really see that and in that scenario the broncos get the worst of the deal..so i'd imagine it would be different compensation for that trade to happen i would like the deal though
What about vilma instead of d-rob to the lions for rodgers? I would want a pick thrown in there atleast because I personally don't want to lose vilma but the lions seem to be the front runner (per everyones favorite source PFT) for Vilma anyway so why not fill a need in return?
ok. No way the broncos give up foxworth and a second when all they're getting in return is DRob and a 5th. The jets will prob hafta offer a 3rd, mb a 4th.
Shaun Rogers has lost his appetite after 8 years as a Detroit cat. What makes you guys think he will take kindly to the Mangini 3-4 / 4-3 hybrid D? You think all you need to do is roll over and grunt and your a Nose Tackle? If that's what you think, then I disagree with you.
By the way, this morning it was reported in the Detroit Free Press: "...Rogers still has some value to the team. There is nothing wrong with keeping him. The problem is building around him. Last year, the Lions did everything for Rogers but hand him cupcakes on a silver platter. They bent over backward for a player so overweight, he can't bend over forward. The idea was that if Rogers got whatever he wanted, he would have no excuses. Well, the Lions were right about one thing: Rogers had no excuses. But he disappeared in the second half of the season, largely because of his largeness. By catering to Rogers, coach Rod Marinelli cost himself some credibility. Marinelli talked about football character and accountability. But then he let Rogers set up a country club in the middle of boot camp. By the end of the season, Kitna was complaining that "our boat is not very full." It was pretty clear that Rogers was not on the boat...."
