hahaha... exactly. He was a BSer at heart, and wasn't really fit for the mod role. He was a cool guy though

Good decision there. Not that it should hurt for people to volunteer. At least the Admin/Mods will know there is some interest. Most of you guys have a good idea of who would make a good mod or not anyhow. Democracy is overrated anyway.

I had a few problems with Dino, to the point that I deliberately avoided posting in threads I knew he was interested in. And yes, that was due to a few PMs I got from him asking me what was my problem in a confrontational manner, whenever I would say something that rubbed him the wrong way. There were never any threats, but it can be intimidating when a mod does that, because you really don't know how irrational he might be thinking. It was just that kind of personal attention that made me try to avoid him, you just don't know.

But like I said, he never made any threats, or promises either. I don't want to see him go, but he made that choice.

I wonder what everyone's expectations are of a Moderator?

I don't know what happened behind the scenes, so maybe I'm not the best to comment on this, but I think all the mods (including Dino) were doing a fine job. I wonder exactly where this "abuse of power" is coming from, since usually when people get banned...it's for a pretty obvious and reasonable purpose.

    I presume he wasn't banned, just de-modded?

Not a user I had or have any strong pro- or anti- feelings about, to be honest, but hadn't observed any undue abuse of power personally. Not that I was looking too hard.

I got into it with Dino as much as anyone on here in threads and such, but I thought he did a good job balancing mod responsiblities and just being a regular poster. I don't think a mod should have to give up their opinions and personality just to put on a "professional face" for the site. We would go back and forth at each other as posters and as you said he never threatened me or tried to abuse his mod powers in these arguments.

I can understand where his manner might be offputting, especially to some people that got popped by him, but I don't think it was ever personal.

    Don't be so stupid!!!!!

Don't know what the reasons were behind all this , but as a contributor I'll miss him if he decides not to post here any more.
Suggestion Dino , go and cool off then come back a super refreshed Dino , I believe that Rogerblaze has now vacated the padded room of which I've tagged myself

Dino's been here as a Mod for awhile and should have been allowed to leave or resign without being publicly humilated. Good bad or indifferent Dino was a solid contibutor to the board and I'm sure being publicly called out like this has got to sting.

I really don't care who is or isn't a moderator, but the board has lost a good contributor in Dino simply because of this thread.

The way I see it this whole thing was pretty shady. If the admins/mods had decided that Dino had to go it's one thing, obviously most posters don't see what goes on behind the scenes. But this happened a day or two after mass PM's were sent out asking people to PM an admin and "air their grievances" about Dino.

if so many people feel so strongly about it, then i guess its their right to "piss on his grave" as someone called it before...apparently he pissed off alot of people...proof of this thread, and the one posted on JI

I feel similar. Not quite disgusted but still. Dino was a good poster and in all my dealings with the guy, a good mod.

And I agree with Winston, should have been given the chance to resign. Of course we don't know if he was offered that chance...

I really wish a Mod would lock this, nothing good is going to come of it other than further punishment of Dino.

I'll miss him being around here- always entertaining in the BS forum and from what I saw, was even-handed.

Of course, I'm not on that often and can't question what took place at other times, but here's to hoping that he continues to post on TGG, though it seems unlikely.

I got just one PM like that and it was AFTER the decision to dismiss him had already been made. So, like I said, this has been building up for quite some time.

    I am closing this thread....
