Did releasing Bell mean Gase is still in charge?

Why does yesterday's move show Gase has sway in decisions? I don't get this argument. AT ALL

Douglas did not sign Bell. Douglas does not see Bell in the future plans, especially considering he just drafted a RB.

I really don't get this argument. There is no evidence, whatsoever, that shows that Gase is making this moves and encouraging these decisions.

There are some nice moves there and good points. But a little maybe you are looking with rose colored glasses in that view. I too think majority seem to be good moves and consistent to what good football person would do. That said ,There are a lot of ifs, and remains to be seen. But there are obvious wins at a glance for sure. One comment though: But van rotten is rotten. So disagree on that gat and be.

There is evidence. Why cut starting RB in week 5 after he posts tweet about usage and Gase saying something in interview. And he wasn’t a Gase guy from start. I read a lot of posts on twitter and that seemed to be the consensus, that included former players. Gase is smiling today! Almost all the moves have gases little finger in them! Gase/JD work as a team! Until they are not.

I was with you until the Greg Van Rotten having a great season part. You might want to delete that part.

No one is perfect and neither is JD. Overall, I am very happy with JD. He got the Johnsons to fork out more money for the scouting staff which for many years has been running on a Cincinnati budget, he brought in top level lieutenants, he brought respect to the FO, he brought in a long term talent building philosophy vs. Spend for the now, he wants to build the OL and he is the first Jets GM I have ever seen strategically use the draft to trade up and down.

On the downside he has not been the great communicator that he has been billed. He has let disagreements with many players get out of hand Oso, Adams, Bell and more. In these cases the player may or not be at fault but ultimately it is JDs responsibility to be the adult and defuse problems before they blow up, we have had issues of playing and putting injured players at risk which likely is a Gase problem but JD again deserves some blame and lastly we have JD helping Gase fufill his grudge against Mac by getting rid of Mac players. The one that really pissed me off was cutting Cannon the day after Boyer called him a top 5 gunner. It seemed to be a direct Gase attack on Boyer and the result is we have had terrible ST play by our gunners all because Gase's ego likely us still hurt because Boyer was forced on Gase by Mac.

Despite my criticisms I am still very happy with JD. I am hoping most of JDs problems will go away when Gase goes away.

Really Falco? Le’Veon Bell criticizes Adam Gase on twitter and he's cut in 1 day despite the Jets taking a financial loss on that decision.

You really find it hard to believe that Adam Gase influenced that decision?

He did not criticize Gase on Twitter. He liked a post that criticized his use.

And if this is true, then Perrine will be cut as well, who also liked a post about his use.

Bell has been liking and commenting on posts on twitter for over a year now. This is not anything new and according to all reports, Douglas has been trying to trade Bell for weeks. Far before his recent post liking activity

My worse fear is Gase and Douglas are just double teaming the Dumb Owners, and milking the corporation with their high salaries..like many Chief Execs and CEOs rip off the Shareholders

Gase gets richer cause even if he is canned they owe him $

Same with Douglas after 6 years he walks away a rich man

Yep. Nothing personal Jet fans..just business as usual... 2 cons schilling the bigger cons J and J lol

You have to hope someone values their Reputation for this to work out for the lowly fanbase :/

You nailed it. Now mix in Trevor Lawrence and a new HC and JD's 'plan' comes into focus.

Van Roten had 0 pressures allowed, 0 penalties, 0 sacks, and 0 quarterback hits against the Cardinals with an 89 pass block grade.

He has played in 331 snaps this year, has 0 penalties and has allowed 1 sack.

He's having a very good year so far.

    JD cuts Bell.

This is what happens when the HC refuses to play the guy you just drafted.

The fans who are saying "JD can't fire Gase" are probably the same fans who said "Gase can't fire MacCagnan"

For all we know that discussion has taken place more than once. As well as further discussions on potential candidates and likelihood of finding one that wants to come to the Jets.

Until the end of the 2021 draft, the jury is still out on Douglas. But to call his first year "god damn awful", is ridiculous, which was the point of that post.

It was only a scenario showing a way that JD could influence Gase's sacking.

It wasn't really my own thoughts as such but yes you're right he might well have said all this and been ignored, nothing would shock me about how this franchise works.

Well that isn't true, I will be shocked to the core that we do the next rebuild correctly and become successful and I will be too happy to care lol

"The Jets organization appreciates Le'Veon's efforts during his time here and we know he worked hard to make significant contributions to this team," general manager Joe Douglas said in a statement after the team released the running back Tuesday. "We believe this decision is in the best interests of both parties and wish him future success.

Sounds like a canned statement to me. There is reason for letting him go week 5, my opinion is that “not good for locker room mantra”. But we may never know the real reason, maybe words were said bell to gase or bell to JD. Or maybe CJ pulled the plug. Gase has his ear. But does not make logical sense to pay someone millions whether on team or not, why not use him. That would be a win win. If better planned we could have at least recouped something. Just not good look for jets! When trying to get players to come here. NFL is close knit community. And right now we are not popular!

Thanks, my friend. Yours is a good post as well. Douglas will definitely make mistakes. He's not perfect, but as you say, he is really the only hope and positive that we have at the moment, aside from Becton, Q. Williams and a few other lesser players.

I can only hope that the huge amount of anger, frustration among Jets fans and the local and national media will force the Johnsons' hand and make them do things in a different way than they have before. They've tried doing things their way and failed miserably. They tried using outside consultants and failed miserably. Aside from selling the team, which as you say, they're not going to do, the only other real recourse they have is to trust Joe Douglas and hand the reins over to him, and allow him to run the team unfettered by them.

Well you are 1st to say he is playing good! Even media had called him out and the rest of the interior line. Most have mentioned his poor play. I watch the games, looked like most of the pressure comes from interior line. When watching looked like van rotten the culprit. Could be wrong.

Football is the ultimate team sport. It DOES take a lot of good, talented players, and not just a few stars. That said, the stars are necessary. A team can be competitive without stars, but they don't have much chance of getting to, much less winning a Super Bowl. We DO need All Pros. You're mistaken about that.

You're also mistaken about the Jets having had the #1 pick in consecutive seasons. They've only had the #1 pick in the draft once. That was in 1996 when they took Keyshawn Johnson.

No way it takes Douglas down. The Johnsons would be on the hook for paying him for 4 1/2 more years, and they'd never find another competent candidate to take either the GM or HC job.

Unless or until Douglas proves himself to be stupid and incompetent, I will continue to believe in him and trust the respect of those around the NFL who do that for a living over what a bunch of fellow fans opine, especially since some of those fans don't have even a rudimentary knowledge about our team, its org chart, or how NFL GMs do their job.
