Did releasing Bell mean Gase is still in charge?

So your definition of success right now is if our front office is scaring other teams in year one of a rebuild? LOL

The truth is none of us know what is going on. There are credible theories looking at this from both sides, but they are just theories. Conspiracy theories in some cases.

I'm not ready to bail on JD yet, but the constant stripping of what little talent this team had is worrying. I am hoping against hope that this is just the inevitable result of inheriting the godawful mess that Mac left behind. The thought of that fat fuck strolling up and down the corridors of Jets HQ, with his endless fucking cups of coffee, looking smug and 'in control', is enough to turn my stomach. The guy had absolutely no clue.

So I could get behind tearing it down to start again from a solid foundation. Getting the No. 1 pick might be a byproduct of that, but tanking deliberately for the No. 1 pick is fool's gold. We had the No.1 pick in consecutive seasons in the 90s, remember. It takes a LOT of talented players to make a good team, not a few stars. Like someone said on here recently (and it was so good I wish I could remember who said it), we need pros, not all-pros. We just need a lot of competent football players, across the entire roster. You can only have so many really good players anyway thanks to the salary cap, so adding a billion first-round picks would not be the answer because we'd have to let half of them go in four years because we wouldn't be able to afford them all.

What was I saying? Oh yes.... Jets suck.

Idzik was stockpiling cash/cap space for the next coach.
Sometimes it doesn’t work out like you want, I can see this is Gase debacle ending up taking them both down.

umm... JD can't fire Gase.. Only DumbFuck can fire Gase.. That being a fact, how many years do we give JD before we start to measure progress? Rome wasn't built in a century..

Lev was not going to be on this team next year so to me this isn't a gase has power move. Ownership got lucky this year with no fans being in the stands, but if they keep gase they will not be able to sell anything and the interest in this team will stoop to unprecedented low levels.

Joe Douglas inherited a team that essentially punted on a decade worth of drafts and had a ton of bloated/underperforming FA players. It's going to take some time but once he picks his own HC, we will see much better results.

How is this even a question about Douglas if it is well known everywhere that the Johnson brothers are in full command of Gase's job. Why is Douglas at fault for Gase's ignorance?

DOUGLAS DOES NOT CONTROL WHETHER GASE IS FIRED OR NOT

    What you've seen him?

I think he must have got his play while I was making a drink, going for a piss, in the bath?

Well, a guy on a 6 year deal surely has the ear of the dumb brothers and can be whispering, sack this piece of shit asap?

He isn't in control but can have a huge say in what happens behind the scenes, no?

PS I am not down on JD, just answering your post with a possible scenario or two :)

If I am Douglas, I want Gase to remain as Head Coach.

    Lose. And keep losing.

Darnold is not the answer. I want Trevor Lawrence and I am POSITIVE Douglas does too. Keep him on board and let him coach himself into oblivion. Helps our future

You're probably right but the scenario was that he 'could' influence if he wished.

He obviously doesn't wish to and no doubt your example is the reason why, I hope that is the reason why or we are in the shit next season for sure.

    Good post, as usual NC

Douglas WILL make mistakes..but my gut says his correct decisions will outweigh his bad ones

JD has to be better than Mike McCagnan and Idzik but no worse than Tannenbaum

He has 4 1/2 years to set us straight...so lets see. He better load us up on WRs that can replace RA (Mims?)

The awful Owners are not selling ,,we can boycott and make them look stupid

But Douglas is are only semi positive with at least a good resume

SMH ..with this stupid team I have followed since age 16 (now in 60s) its only "hope for the best" b/c there is no preparing for the worst..sigh

His first year is a god damn joke?

Traded Leonard Williams for a third round 2020 pick and a 5th round 2021 pick.
He signed George Fant, who is having a great season.
He drafted Becton who is one of the top rated tackles in his rookie year.
He signed VanRotten who is also having a great season.
He traded down in the second round and drafted Mims.
With that trade he picked up an extra 3rd rounder.
He then turned that 3rd rounder into three more picks.
He traded the 6th round pick for a starting player.
He traded Jamal Adams for a starting safety, a first round pick in 2021, third round pick in 2021, and a first round pick in 2022.

All in all, we have three starters on our offensive line. A very talented rookie WR who is trying to get healthy. 10 picks in 2021. And a TON of cap space.

That is a god damn joke?

Agree with you. But playing nice and not calling for his “friends” dismissal (got him job) may be one of the mistakes, maybe behind the scenes, but yesterday’s move not supporting that. Actually to the contrary. Looks like Gase still by part of decision making. So JD either playing good guy, and in a nice way supporting Gase, or in CJs hear, backstabbing him. Not sure which one. They can’t be delusional to think they can just turn around the team, sighting injuries and bad luck, hard schedule, etc. And releasing players not “right” for our team mantra. Does anyone think that? Maybe CJ believes it is just a blip and things will get better. Hard to fathom. Oh this team!
