I'm not sure of the exact stat, but I think aside from the Arizona game +6, we were -9 in all the other games coming into the KC game. So we're now -12 in games other than Arizona? It's amazing we're 4-3 regardless of who we played.

Is that true? I guess I kinda knew that unconsciously, but it's a whole different thing to confront it directly. Wow. This is actually a very hopeful sign, if we can just shut down this silliness, we could actually be good.

That is a great post. I was listening to first half the game on the NJTurnpike heading home to DC and I was thinking the same thing with respect the to second drive. And the 4th Quarter call you speak of above just made no sense at all. Not only was there no running formation, it was an empty set, there was no chance of giving them the impression we may run. Wow. Genuis my @$#!!!

This team is apparently built to win now, it is a shame the coaching staff is not.

That Leon Washington had only 3 carries is an indictment of the coaching staff. If you don't think he's durable enough to be a "workhorse" or are concerned about injury, at least let him split carries 40% - 60% with Thomas Jones.

Leon is our arguably our MVP right now, which is amazing considering how underutilized he is in our offensive schemes. The man is electric and a threat to take it the distance every time he gets his hands on the football.

I agree. I was surprised the Jets didn't run the ball a bit more but the playcalling was fine. Execution of a couple of the plays was the problem.

I am more worried about the play calling on the Defensive side. Ryan Fizpatrick? Tyler Tigpen? Russell Threw for 200+ yards, Matt Cassel completing 16/23 passes, Warner throwing for 400+ yards, Penny, Rivers? ... You guys can complain about the offensive play calling any day but Sutton has got to go. He needs to make up some packages that brings pressure to the QB.

Kansas City has the worst run defense in the league. Brett was not playing well. Schottenheimer called 22 runs as opposed to over 40 passes. 'Nuff said

No you are missing the point, the gameplan should be based on your opponent, who was 32 dead last in stopping the run. Why in the world would you try to get cute and pass alot?

Anyone who criticizes the Jets for running a lot against the worst team in the league at stopping the run because "we got ourselves a gunslinger, why we runnin it so much" is a freakin idiot and knows nothing about football.

For anyone that has watched the Jets this season, they have to realize that playcalling so far has been awful. Whoever's responsible needs a reality check (whether it's Schotty or Mangini).

The Jets have been running the ball too much for the most part (i.e. conservative play) against better teams. You have to pass some and throw in some play action in those situations. Too often we haven't been doing that. We run, we run, we pass on 3rd and long, and that's the story. Okay, so it's time to open it up a bit, but NOT against the worst rush D in the NFL!!! Now we finally face an easy run D, and what do we do? Pass until we realize, "hey, we're losing this game in the air."

If this is a team that doesn't have an identity (and they admit it), and is a so-called "game plan" team that tailors their playcalling and formations based on the matchup, then they're tailoring it about as awfully as you can. It's like they're trying to make every game an uphill battle with how they're prepared. I don't really see how you can see it any other way. The talent level is there. The game plan never is. Most of the losses this season fall on the coaching staff. People will complain about the D yesterday. Sure it wasn't great, but it's not like 17 pts is insurmountable, and some of those were due to a short field.

Does anyone have a copy of the jet/chief game from last week on video or dvd? I went to the game and set my dvr to record it but direct tv had some kind of interruption (figures ...never happened before) and came back to hawaii to find nothing got recorded since the failure. I would really appreciate it if I could get a copy...Posterity sake....mahalo ps... it would be great if it was the entire televised game as opposed to the nfl replay airing
