FootballGod got it right...."Today." Also, just an FYI...if you have made the practice squad you HAVE made the NFL Team. The team can activate you and deactivate a practice squad player to the active roster all year long for a couple of years. There are rules in place that a player can only be on a practice squad for so many years or dependent upon playing time but make no mistake...a practice squad player is a NFL football player. This is exactly the place for these "diamond in the rough" players. They are typically from smaller schools who didn't quite have the level of competition to hone their skills. They are on the practice squad to get experience and teaching at the NFL level. You PRAY....and I mean PRAY you can find one or possibly two players each year who start on your practice squad but will be full time contributors down the line...and if you are lucky you find a perennial pro-bowl/all pro type of player.
With all of this said, unless Millner turns out to be a very very good CB his second year, without doing anything in free agency, we are pretty much guaranteed to be average at best with our entire secondary. With the pass rush we have FINALLY developed after all of these years..have to say..that really really really sucks.
I see Walls as more of the diamond in the rough type of guy. He played decently last year, but had his ups and downs. As a whole he played better than Milliner, but based on the last 5 weeks of the season, Milliner played substantially better than him. If Milliner can continue from where he left off late last season he'll be a force on our team. I trust Wilson in the slot. The only thing that really nags me is the #2 CB position. Walls could fill that role nicely, but I don't think we've seen enough to tell for sure. I'm near positive that we'll still draft a CB in round 1 or 2, depending on what WRs / TEs are available.
If Bill Belicheat didn't see enough in this guy who he drafted then I have little faith he will turn into anything.Belichek doesn't let young defensive players with potential walk especially a second round pick
