Yeah, I figured you were just trying to get this debate started again. Silly me for believing you believed the first post I responded to.
Really dude are you serious? Of course it's easier to work out a contract for a backup than a superstar....duh.
I said it during the preseason that I liked what I saw from DeVito up to this point and I'm happy we resigned him... going from undrafted to making he team all these years in a row is a big success...
Haha...I wonder how many have that set up? I know mine at home and at work has this forum as homepage.
Firstly, glad to hear he's playing Sunday. Is he starting, or is Pouha still getting the start (meaning DeVito will play less snaps?) Secondly, I'm not against extending him. I just thought it's a bit of a head scratcher, given that they could have seen how he performs through a full start before sitting down to work something out. This week presents a very unique opportunity to have seen what he does, then work something out next week. (Though perhaps this was done while they thought he'd be out? It still doesn't make sense that they did it. He wasn't complaining.) Not really a problem, I just think it's kind of strange.
As far as I know, the Jets have made the offer and its sitting the table. The offer is much much more than what Leon has done so far. Maybe he'll be the next superstar, who knows? U just don't get paid for being a 'who knows' talent, besides being rookie deals.
Get over it Alio The Fool. Its not like he signed a 3 yr $30 mil contract. It was only a 3 yr extension at $3.8 mil. That's not an aweful lot of money to be crying about. Im sure not all of that is guaranteed anyways, probably a mil at the most. We'd probably still save money even if we were to cut him in any future yrs since his salary would be over a mil each yr.
Because the offer was taken off the table. They offered more but in reality the guaranteed money was lowered and heavily incentive based.
First time for me, I figured all Jet fans wanted him signed and there was no need for a debate. I had no clue he was unwanted. To each his own.
Leon Washington runs faster laterally than most guys in the same position run straight. He's the Jets next claim to fame - and we don't have many. I don't want to see him get something ridiculous, but I can't stand this mess. Meet him somewhere in the middle, compromise, and be done with it.
Agree 100% Just the other night on NFL live everyone of the "expert" analyst said he was better then Reggie Bush. Same draft year too, could end up being a great steal of a pick when we look back at his career. At this point I have to agree.
So what wrong with incentive based contract? Isn't that only fair to both parties? U perform, you get paid larger sum. u suck, you get most of the money anyways...Isn't that how it goes or am I counting stars here?
That is pretty young. RBs don't come to the NFL in their teenage. They usually join around 22-23 yrs old n then being in the league for 4 yrs is pretty young. 4 more years of NFL is a whole lot, not to mention they remain in their prime pretty much until they hit the 31-32 yr old wall.
