I was just thinking the same thing. As in... I bet this is exactly why he's gone, too. Mason essentially came in, and in two months, assessed there were some issues with the offense, he realized why those issues exist, and not only did he assess them, he was the person that really got the ball rolling on calling it out and making it a major media story-- and he implied EVERYONE knew what the cracks were but they didn't want to speak up. Essentially saying the whole frakking offense thinks Schotty is... Not good. Before him, things were sort of subtle, sort of veiled hints from players here and there... And then Mason strolled through and blew that up, and just put it out there for the world in big and bold when he had that locker room tirade... He all but spelled out who the crack was. From the moment he did that, the media has been relentless about the offense, and people have been all over this offense in a way they never have been before. I suspect his honesty was not appreciated by some/someone. I almost wonder if he'll say anything more now that he's no longer a Jet.
Its not that his honesty wasn't appreciated, its the fact that in Rex's house, no one bashes the team to the media. But like I've said weeks ago when I jumped on the fire schotty bandwagon - if your veteran players have an issue with how the offense is run, then its not going to be run well, and you're going to get fired.
That about sums it up. If Rex can't wake the fuck up and fix this problem with the offense , then both Rex and Brian should be let go. Hell, let him move in with you Rex if you love him so much. Time to take the blinders off and fire your OC, NOW!

Dumping Mason isn't gonna cure the disease that is the Jets offense. Lose to Miami and the shit will really hit the fan.

Agreed. I was more for keeping Cotchery than Mason but I understand Cotchery's back issues and that he's done nothing in PIT. I was in the very small minority in the "Sign for Randy Moss" bandwagon as I felt he had one more good year left in him. Had aspirations of signing Moss before signing even Burress(Who should be the team's No.3 IMO).
On a side note, Jerricho Cotchery must feel pretty stupid to demand to be released. He could have been the team's No.2 WR if Burress doesn't begin to figure things out...now he's become Pittsburgh's No.5 WR when he comes back from injury
Also I like the trade.....not so much that we might have only got a 7th, but its kind of the Jets way of sticking it to Mason. If Mason was a FA, he would be falling head over shoulders to sign with his 1st team, the Titans(He chose the Jets over Titans) so what happens? Bam welcome to the division rival Texans. Titans WR depth chart is ugly, Mason would have pounced on that opportunity. I actually think Houston traded more so to keep Mason away from the Titans than to actually help their team, as funny as that may sound.
Especially since it seems Sanchez and coaching staff tried to convince Cotchery to stay w/ the team. Now he's on a team where he's going to get no playing time & here's the Jets needing a WR. Once Cotchery was healthy, they'd definitely run plays for him. === As for Mason: too much talking for somebody so unproductive. good riddance.
I thought Cotchery requested a trade because it is his contract year and he wanted a bigger role than what they planned for him. He was the WR malcontent before Mason.
He was fine being a No.3, much like last year but once Mason signed to add to the Kerley pick, I think then and there Cotchery wanted out. No Mason means Cotchery stays put and would be competing with Burress for the No.2 spot.
