You’re using the same argument for Darnold that the Wilson guys used when he was 5-2. There are QBs that carry teams. There are QBs that contribute to a teams success and then there’s guys along for the ride. Which do you believe Darnold is? They ran for 320 yards last week, clown shoes.

Somehow its hard to put him in the "rookie who sat for a couple years" category ala Aaron Rodgers etc. Probably because he didn't show enough to be kept on the 53 in several cases. I guess he can be said to be a journeyman given his journey through teams and rosters. But like you say he's still a developing, lightly played guy. He has deficiencies in body strength and throwing on the run--two things he can work on in the off-season. It would be crazy to sign Carr and then have Carr lose the QB battle in 2023. And if they sign Carr before extending Mike, he's gonna walk.
Body strength? That's a reach. Throwing on the run Isn't a needed skill to play professional QB. It's fine. Whatever we can reach at to discredit the kid I guess. I'll be supporting the fuck out of him the next two games and I hope he shows that he deserves a true shot.
The stats at Minnie and Buffalo are way below average NFL QB stats. Those are raw stats. Chicago tilts his stats for three games. The safety literally had a play on a ball, when down like some shot him, Wilson ran untouched for a TD. The rest of the secondary will not be playing in NFL next year.
So what if the stats aren’t perfect in his first NFL games? He certainly can improve. Ask Geno. White is a better option than giving up picks for Carr and big money. Ask the Broncos. Why are the Raiders letting him go? Ok . Thank you.

I don't think Carr will demand 40 mil per year contract, no one will pay that. Most likely he will be cut and it will be 25-30 per year for two years, plus team option 3d year. How does that prevent us from drafting a young QB if we want? Yeah, he will eat up some CAP space, but it will not be a long term deal. This is not Russell Wilson contract we are talking about, we can still get a prospect in the draft this or next year, who can play in one-two years. Mike White looked better than the stats indicate based on the thorough tape review. I thought he had 3 out of 3 good games. Take a look for yourself below. And even with raw stats, over 3 games the passer rating is identical to Carr this season. Right now I want Carr as #1 option, but if White can put two more impressive games, and dare I say a decent play-off outing, I would resign him, even with the small sample size. Yes I know, even journeyman QB is capable to string together a few good games. But we developed the guy for 3 years, he is 4 years younger than Carr, and if he leads us to the play-offs against the odds, while playing well, I would have a hard time moving on. We are not there yet though.
If it is a choice between Carr and Mike White, I'd go with Carr no matter how White performs in the next two games. Even with the eyeliner.
Unless White takes us to the Super Bowl or something, we can't go into next year with him and no other decent starter for the simple reason that he can't stay healthy. We can talk until we're blue in the face about how good he is, but none of that matters if he's missing half the games.

They aren't going to pay him 120 million because it's an insane contract and everyone knows it. He's right in the middle of the pack of QBs. He can win you games when needed or he can be a passenger here on a way better roster than what LV has provided for 8 years. You keep telling the people who would entertain Carr that they are ignoring basic stats, but look in the mirror man. Mike White has played 7 games and finished less than half of them without injury or coming out. Mike White has 7 games of data. Carr has eight years of play that is equivalent to Staffords first eight. In one of two years where Derek Carr had the 20th ranked defense they went 12-4, he was top 3 in MVP voting, and went to the playoffs. Those are facts. Imagine what he would do with our roster? If you say you wouldn't want a Stafford like QB you are lying to yourself and we are having this discussion for no reason. In no way shape or form is Mike White better than Derek Carr. Can he be? Maybe? Are JD and Saleh really going to hitch their future to a guy who can't even finish half of his starts? Probably not. I've posted multiple times that I want White to be the guy and I hope he succeeds. I would love to have a QB room of MW and Minshew next year where we can spend our money elsewhere to improve the roster. Just to make this clear -- I would never trade for Derek Carr. Ever.
