He has no Pro Bowls because he's vastly underrated. Anything based on the voting of fans is flat out biased. Look how many Cowboys make it every year.
Do not cut Moore! Good time to cut ties with Bowens, especially after a knee surgery. Kassell was a given. Leon should def get re-signed and hopefully with the money we're going to be dumping on him we use him a hell of a lot more. I wouldn't worry too much about losing Baker. There's a slim chance no other teams pick him up and we can get him back for cheap dollars mid-summer. That's a chance I'd be willing to take.
Baker has us in a terrible position. He's not worth the money he's due, and yet if we cut him, we're down to one TE on the roster. We'd need to sign a primarily blocking TE to fill his spot, and I doubt we get much in a trade. Still, knowing that Keller will likely be catching the majority of passes thrown to the TE, we should be able to get a good blocker cheap. As far as Moore is concerned, you don't cut a lineman unless he's a turnstile, and Moore is far from that. True strength on the offensive line comes from the play of the unit, not the play of individuals. We need to start some consistency along the line, and I think we see a huge boost in pass protection this coming season if we keep the pieces in place and build up some depth.
Keller did seem to fall off in the second half, didn't he? Man, this team cannot afford to have him not step up as the starter. Too many other holes. That being the case, hopefully, and the second half of last year being a temporary dip in Keller's performance, I hope the team can afford to get rid of Baker. They can probably pick up a blocking TE for less money than Baker gets.
Mangini put him in the doghouse over one series in San Fran, or even play - it may have been that 3rd down drop. I think it was more on the schemes played and coaching more than Keller.
It's possible Keller hit the rookie wall. Favre was raving about him early in the year, then of course Favre struggled late too. As a receiver you're last on the food chain--if the line struggles or the QB struggles, you're going to struggle. I don't see that being a lasting thing.
Yep. Longer camp, longer season, higher level of competition, and more intensity. I couldn't wait to see if AD could hold up last season and maintain that level of play...then he got hurt. I was shocked that Matt Ryan continued to play as well as he did this year, although it's a tiny bit easier for a QB not to tire out.
I'm glad everyone is getting on the Moore train. I feel like I've been screaming at the top of my lungs about him for the last month or so. The big issue with him is his Roster Bonus. There shouldn't be any issues renegotiating his contract and making the roster bonus turn into a signing bonus where the cap number can be spread out over a few years.
The entire offense fell off in the second half. It had as much to do with Favre's arm injury as any single player. I'm not ready to pin that on Keller.
